About 70 UPenn students and community activists organized by Fossil Free Penn ran onto the UPenn Yale football field at halftime and refused to leave as they held up three orange banners. On the banners in black lettering were their three demands to UPenn officials: Divest, Save UC Townhomes, and Pay PILOTS.
After 30 minutes under threat of arrests, 60 of the demonstrators walked off the field and were escorted out of the stadium. The rest of the protesters were handcuffed and led out to a police van, where their comrades who had earlier left the field chanted slogans until the police vehicle left.
The activists marched over to the Police Precinct at 40th & Chestnut where they blocked the street, rallied, chanted and sang until eventually all 19 people arrested were released. Each arrestee was charged with "Defiant Trespass."

Vietnamese youth climate leaders, after coming back from the Vietnam
Climate Leadership Camp (VCLC) 2018, organized many activities for #RISE in
different provinces and cities of Vietnam. Activities range from social
media campaigning, to climate and energy workshops, to flashmob dancing.
One of the highlights of RISE Vietnam is flashmob performances that these
community groups are coordinating in Can Tho, An Giang and Ho Chi Minh
City, between September 5-8, 2018, where participants wear the traditional
hats (nón lá) hand painted by themselves, carrying #Rise and #FossilFree
messages.
This is the flashmob group in Ho Chi Minh City, with their traditional
hats, at Hoa Sen University.

This morning I spotted a student protest at one of Edinburgh Uni's buildings on Chambers Street, Charles Stewart House, but being on the way to work didn't have time to stop.
They were still there on my way home from work so I had a chance to pause and take a few quick photos, and one of the students was kind enough to come over and give me a leaflet explaining what they were doing. Worldwide a lot of students have persuaded their colleges to divest any part of their investment portfolios that involves fossil fuels, to set a good example and to promote environmental awareness (which you'd expect an institution dedicated to learning to embrace).
Some have indeed divested, such as Glasgow University, but Edinburgh University's leaders are proving rather resistant to this notion, hence the (pretty good natured and friendly) "occupation" by some students of this university management building. You can follow them on Twitter with the hashtag #EdinburghUniFossilFree

Bangkok, Thailand -- On September 8, 2018, tens of thousands of people joined over 830 actions in 91 countries under the banner of Rise for Climate to demonstrate the urgency of the climate crisis. Communities around the world shined a spotlight on the increasing impacts they are experiencing and demanded local action to keep fossil fuels in the ground. There were hundreds of creative events and actions that challenged fossil fuels and called for a swift and just transition to 100% renewable energy for all. Event organizers emphasized community-led solutions, starting in places most impacted by pollution and climate change. Photo by Pongsit Nopmaneepaisan l Survival Media Agency
