This is a detail of the Forte of Gavi, AL, Italy. It is the oldest and biggest monument in my area. I made an exhibition there in 2022, and will make another this year in may june 2023
The castle was the residence of Baron de Sillé-le-Guillaume, one of the former baronies of Maine. The original fortified castle was built during the 11th century. The stronghold, being close to Brittany and Normandy, was the scene of many battles, including the assaults of William the Conqueror or the English army during the Hundred Years War. It will be taken and repeated several times by each of the parties. Damaged, it was reinforced in the 15th century by the baron, but the arrival of gunpowder made this restoration unnecessary. In the 16th and 17th centuries it was made more habitable by its occupants. The castle served as a school during the 19th century before being acquired by the town

If you travel to Rajasthan and arrive in Jodhpur, the beautiful city where the houses are all painted blue, look up and you will see, perched on a hill, the Mehrangarh Fort. “Mihir” means sun and “Garh” means fort and for this reason we can say that its name means “fort of the Sun”. It is considered one of the most impressive and spectacular Indian forts. Founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, this fort has seven defensive gates including the Jai Pole, the main one from where you enter. The sixth gate, the Loha Pol, is located right on a curve with respect to the slope that leads to the fort so that the attackers, men and elephants, were not able to break it down frontally also considering that it is defended by visible iron spikes. Once you enter through this door, on the wall you can see the footprints (dating back to around the mid-1800s) of the widows of Maharaja Man Singh who performed sati (after the death of their husband they let themselves be burned on the funeral pyre together with him).
