So many places to go. So many things to experience. If only we could be more like the water. Each little rivulet finds its way down a path, exploring from place to place. It may meet a choke point and mix with the rest, but then it spreads out and quests the edges of its reality once more. All the while, it's always moving, always en route to the next place. In the end, it always finds a way to get where it's going.

I feel a great inner satisfaction at the thought of holding the first prints in my hands in the coming weeks to decorate our living space with them.

Holding my own photos in my hands as prints is the greatest thing for me.

A l’Eocène (- 53 Ma à -35 Ma)

A l’Oligocène (- 35 Ma à – 23.5 Ma)

This is my old 3D World medium format film camera gear. Every now and then, some of my followers may read about the image being a scan of an old colour medium format 3D stereo slide - well this is the set up it would have come from. For a short while, these cameras came on the market early in the 2000s - I think I bought this in 2007, directly imported from a small company in China. In the shot, you can see the beast on the left, one of the LED backlit viewers in the middle and a stereo slide on the right. For a short while, I did actually run a small business with this set up which used a coin operated version of the slide viewer. I had a few of the viewers set up in some of Tasmania's visitor information centres, and for a year or so, it was a fun little niche business to run. Sadly, like many 3D ventures, I had to close it down. For me it was simply the cost of public liability insurance eating the small profits! However, I was happy to have it return to a much more enjoyable hobby.

The camera as you can see is a large unit, weighing in at about 2kg! It has 3 lenses. Two are for the left and right images needed, and the third top one is simply a through the lens viewfinder which allows you to see as close as possible what the main pair of lenses are seeing. The lenses were incredibly sharp, being almost a copy of a Hassleblad 80mm lens. The viewing experience for me was amazing, but personal. Not easily shared with the world. I have tried to find a good affordable scanner to capture the wonderful resolution of the original slides, but I am still working on that. Anything I have scanned so far is a rough and ready one involving a camera or phone scan. I haven't used it for a long time now, as the cost became quite high for film and processing. Ultimately it cost around $4-00 a shot including processing and mounts! Every shot was actually 2 images, so I only got 6 per roll. So, some care had to be taken with exposure to get it right in one go! Exposure bracketing was costly!

Although I no longer use the camera, the slides themselves are viewed regularly on that little LED viewer and they still hold up remarkably well in today's high megapixel digital world.
