A series of rock studies from part of the Portscatho Formation ( Devonian mud, sand and siltstone) in Falmouth.
Rock formations on the Katmai coast may break into beautiful columnar pieces. These columns result from lava cooling and slowly fracturing into unique honeycomb patterns.
Pelicans flying in an arc formation at Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin. Photo taken from the boardwalk in the early morning light, while the water was still very calm and reflecting the trees quite nicely.

When it's cold enough in late fall at Waubay National Wildlife Refuge but the lake isn't frozen yet, sometimes interesting ice formations will form around submerged trees and roots after windy days.

These three were coming in for a landing on the ice.They almost look like B52 bombers flying in formation and coming at you.
© 2007 Phillip Nemith - Here is my first post in a long while. Over the weekend I made my first trip to Arlington National Cemetery. I think that I have been avoiding this place for reasons I dont fully understand yet, but now that the first trip is over I am ready to begin collecting more images there.
This image was made well off the tourist track, but near the very busy Section 60 which is the location of the recent war dead from the "War on Terror". Between Section 60, and all of the popular tourist graves are huge areas filled with the graves of thousands of people who mostly seem to have been lost to time. Many years have passed since people held vigil over these graves like is currently common in Section 60.
