Instead of doing a guided tour via Cave Lodge, we decided to walk to a nearby Karen village and find a local guide to take us into a cave we had heard about called "Long Cave." Incidentally, the only people we met along the way were two women who were picking mushrooms on the side of the road. One of them spoke good English; she introduced herself as Sicomo and offered to take us to the cave. An hour and some walking later, we were at the entrance -- a tiny hole in the side of a cliff that you have to squeeze through. Not for the claustrophic! The tunnel continues further until suddenly opening up into a vast cavity. This photo shows the interior of the cave, the limestone formations that are created over millenia as water seeps through the limestone and creates glittery drip castles everywhere you look. Long Cave is so-named for its astonishing 500 meter length. We walked until we hit a river, and then turned around.

I hope you all have a fantastic, photographic 2013. Thank you so much for brightening my days in 2012.
Another rock formation. Don't kill me. I'm still in awe of this park's beauty.
The description I read stated something like "Natural Bridge. Rt 8, North Adams. Only natural bridge in North America." So I didn't know what to expect, but was so glad I decided to drive the extra distance north to reach this park.
Flying formation from a small street of London. Apparently this was for the Queen's birthday.
It's quite strange to ear the huge noise of these plains in one of the small street around Russel's square. The most difficult was to predict where the planes would pass.

This formation, known as the Mescalito formation, can be found along the Pine Creek Canyon trail. At it's base, the trail goes both to the left and to the right (the right fork being the more difficult).
