I had operated on Miller a few months before, for obesity. At the postoperative visit in the office he was the color of ash, he could hardly speak, but he mumbled that he had the worst headache ever. Those were his words. A bell went off in me. In medical school I learned that if a person ever told me that about a headache, believe it. The desperate way he held his head in his hands and kneaded his fingers into the skin, trying, I thought, to pull out the pain, it was not hard to believe him.

ADDA and his mom were walking along Ocean Beach when we came across this chair. My mom just turned towards me and gave me that look, "well, what are you waiting for?".
I guess all my friends and family know that whatever adventure or walk that Adda will take, he will follow his mantra in life:
'DON'T FORGET TO STOP AND TAKE THE PHOTOS.'

These are invaders, but welcome ones. Previous owners planted them, cared for them, loved them. Then we came along. We ignore them, abuse them, mow them. But they are a pleasure, not a pain.
With slightly overcast clouds, I went out yesterday to document them. I came away completely disatisfied. Sure, they're somewhat nice with bright colors. But there's nothing special 'bout 'em, y'know? I mean, I've seen pics like this *thousands* of times.
So I dunno. Decide for yourself.
