For the next few days I'll show you some photographs from the Tarkine region in northwest Tasmania. We are in the forest walking towards an incredible formation known as the Trowutta Arch. This photograph is my attempt to capture something of the spirit of this place. Because this forest is truly alive!

My title is not an intended pun, but it is true that since the early 1990s there has been a strong environmental struggle to see the Tarkine recognised as a World Heritage Area. The purpose for this is to protect the forests. I don't intend to labour the debate here, but needless to say, sections of the old forest like this are in no danger at all from either logging or mining. They are universally recognised as places of great importance. But there are disputed areas that continue to be an ongoing battle between forestry, mining and conservation interests. It will be interesting to see how it is resolved.

The best form of protection for natural beauty is to show people photographs of places like this. It feels like home.

Forêt silencieuse, aimable solitude,

Que j’aime à parcourir votre ombrage ignoré !

Dans vos sombres détours, en rêvant égaré,

J’éprouve un sentiment libre d’inquiétude !

Silent forest, amiable solitude,

How much I like to go through your ignored shading!

In your dark detours, dreaming lost,

I feel a free feeling of worry!

The old gasworks in Hrensko, Czech Republic was built in 1905 for production of acetylene gas.

Because the production process was dangerous and there was the fear that an explosion would cause serious damage to the surrounding area, the building was placed in a narrow rock canyon.

I already posted a landscape format from this building >> HERE

The original photo is about 17000x12000px in size and consists of more than 30 single photos.

Photos were taken handheld and merged together in Lightroom.

Maybe this one will end up as a giant print on one of our walls at home.

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Forest Green. We have some Forest Green surrounded by a sky, clouds and some flares and bokeh. HMMM!

I'm always wishing for more fog here in Denver because it adds a different dimension to your photo's. I guess it helps add depth and atmosphere. We were given an extra dose while in Virginia the sunshine was a rare commodity.I got what I was wishing for and then some.

Truly appreciated

It's really cool that the location where it was taken is called "Green Forest" or Grünwald (in German).

I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all because I get to give gifts I have gathered throughout the year to my family and friends.

I shop for gifts all year around, and then hide them in places about the house where my partner won't find them (if they are for him) and in places out of the way for other recipients who might be visiting.

In the lead up to Christmas, my dining room becomes a wonderland of Christmas wrapping and trimmings which I joking call the Christmas Wrapping Bureau, as I usually end up wrapping all my partner's presents as well as my own. However another reason I like Christmas is that I love wrapping gifts, playing with ribbons and bright paper.

They are all done and are nestled 'neath my tree, ready for Christmas Day!

This island was a paradise for me.... So many foggy sceneries.

Yes it was cold, yes it was wet, but Beaumont Park was gloriously green, stunning and the kids loved it :)

Our Colorado State flower found in our beautiful forests!! I was overwhelmed by how many Columbines we were finding on this day. They were perfectly pristine. I found them in perfect light and beautiful surroundings!

Have a wonderful weekend my Flickr friends and I hope it's filled with beautiful surroundings!

I was really lucky last week, finally foggy conditions and a little bit of time for a few photos.

And this would be my favorite song right now....

This Christmas bauble was hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year.

Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in this bauble are 5mm in diameter, except the stars which are 8mm. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble. I always leave the stars until last, allowing a gap in the sequin chain to pin them in.

These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because it is a complex pattern which starts from the inside and is worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours per side.

It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.
