A visit to Silverton, OR, 15 or so miles from Salem/Keizer. I had heard of some evacuations in this area. A dense fog and smoke from nearby fires is evident. Very little traffic and no road closures until I got to the far edge of Silverton.
This old Ford Pickup was seen at the Wapato Showdown over in Gaston Oregon.. I so enjoy seeing these old cars from yesteryear.. Happy Truck Thursday, Everybody!!!!!!!

The Ford Thames 400E was introduced in 1957, as a van, pick-up and open body replacement for the long outdated Ford E83W light commercial range. Taking a design lead from the US parent, the new 10 / 12 / 15 cwt (1,100 / 1,300 / 1,700 lb; 510 / 610 / 760 kg) appeared as a modern forward control style vehicle. Cab and chassis windscreen variants, (subsequently described as open back differed from the van, estate car, and express bus body models (closed back), by the addition of an extra rear crossmember to support the spare wheel carrier and to close the rear ends of the chassis horns. On open back models the rear chassis outriggers were designed to were designed to accept customers' own coachwork either attached via welded cleats or bolted directly. This bodywork be it a pickup buck or say an ambulance body typically added extra stability to the rear chassis
An ideal engine and transmission existed amongst Dagenham's passenger car range, this being the Consul's 1703 cc ohv engine, with its associated three speed gearbox with synchromesh between the upper two ratios and a column gearchange mechanism. The low compression (6.9: 1) version of this engine, developing 53 bhp with the higher compression head of the Consul engine being available as an option. A further option was to be the Perkins 4/99 diesel, this being a 1.6 litre four cylinder unit producing only 42 bhp

The Port Aransas, Texas Police Department patrols the section of beach on Mustang Island that is within the towns' corporate limits. Having driven a variety of Ford police products during the past 32 years, I have to admit that I never had the chance to drive a F150 4x4. At first thought, beach patrol duty has obvious advantages. However, I would imagine that they have their hands full during the Spring Break invasion of college students.

This old truck is an icon of Eikehof Wines. They actually have a large wooden frame created so you can take a photo with the truck within a frame.
This truck comes with a mattress in its bed, and a bottle of beer in the front. A perfect truck if you want to pull over, kick back and chill.
One of the many trucks at the Wapato Showdown last year... I am told that it has been canceled this year but I'm hoping that it will be for only this one year... Happy Truck Thursday, Everybody!!!
