Vehicles of the Greater Manchester Police motorway fleet from the mid 1970s.
The iconic police Range Rover is flanked by a Ford Granada estate and a Ford Transit van.
The impressive police sign and blue light atop the vehicles may have been very eye-catching, but were sadly not very aerodynamic and known to reduce the vehicles top speed by several miles per hour.
The Range Rover and the Ford Capri are perhaps the best-remembered Greater Manchester Police vehicles of the era.

You should call 101, the new national non-emergency number, to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response.
Always call 999 in an emergency, such as when a crime is in progress, violence is being used or threatened or where there is danger to life.
You can also call anonymously with information about crime to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity who will not want your name, just your information. Your call will not be traced or recorded and you do not have to go to court or give a statement.

Love this van’s art and typography…. and I’m thinking of ringing them up and checking their rates. The phone number’s Area Code is here in the Atlanta area.

One of Nick Agnew's photographs that appear here with his consent and this showing RT 4114 (LUC 463) on Epping High Street heading towards Harlow New Town on route 805. The bus, new to London Transport in April 1951 and, in LT parlance a 3RT8 version with Weymann bodywork, had been transferred to the new National Bus Company subsidiary London Country Buses in January 1970 as part of the handover of the old LT Country Bus area. RT 4114 was only based at Harlow Garage from January 1972 until October of that year when it was sold for scrap in December.
The High St here hasn't really changed a lot apart from the usual churn of retail units common to all High Streets. As was often the case on Harlow based RT's the side advert is for the Hertford brewers McMullens who still 'survive' although no longer in their historic brewery. The bus is passing a once ubiquitous sight on UK roads - a Ford Transit Mark I van!
This old Ford Transit van was owned and operated by RTE...Radio Telefís Éireann...Ireland's National Broadcaster. The old York engine started after a struggle the other day as I backed it into this location.
The owner is open to offers on this old piece of television history.
I'm sure the cops are thankful for the goose liver pate and organic, gluten free, non-GMO, soy free, whole grain, vegan super seed crackers spread and low fat healthy option mini-sandwiches the condo association put out it the clubhouse.
Personally, i think it's a passive-aggressive ploy because they're annoyed at the intrusion, not to mention parking all those police cars on the grass.
In any case, cops can't process a complex crime scene like this on over rated finger food.
