Sometimes, when you pull up to a car show (or a store or a car lot), there's just that one vehicle or item that stands out above all the others. At this car show earlier this year, this was that vehicle! It almost looked like a toy that I could pick up and take home...the perfect color, the perfect size, and looked like a lot of fun!! I need to find me one of these...

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Playing around with a vintage lens adapted to my Canon R7.

This great, old Ford Bronco Sport has been sitting at this little car lot as you leave Wal-Mart in Algood, TN for as long as I can remember. I decided to stop by last Saturday to take a few shots. Luckily (I guess), there was nobody there and I got several shots without any hassle...

I think it's a late '60's model...anyone know for sure?!?

I took three bracketed photos to create this HDR in Photomatix. It was then tweaked a little in PS and converted to B&W with Nik Silver Effects Pro. I painted the color back on the Bronco in PS.

My little eruption green Bronco is parked in front of the Meers store/restaurant in the Oklahoma ghost town of Meers. The town had a short boom in the early 1900s, but there was no gold in the

Wichitas other than some planted in a mine shaft by a fraudster who sold stock in the mine.

This is the only remaining building of the original townsite and it is about to fall down, but still serving up huge burgers made from Texas Longhorn beef on a tin plate. They are so big they are cut into quarters. Should you visit, split one with someone so you have room for peach cobbler and ice cream.

Not a current photo, but I like it. The Bronco was recently traded for a 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2.

2022 Ford Bronco, Ford Bronco Sport

Seemingly no new generation Ford Bronco offshoot has been left behind by Mattel with a whole variety of different body styles coming thick and fast in their respective Hot Wheels and Matchbox ranges. The Sport variant goes to Matchbox who are now on their second release and which first appeared in 2024 Case F and of course crosses into Case G.

Rather small in size to be classed as a true 1/64 casting and features the increasingly popular one piece plastic upper body which in fairness has been disguised fairly well and theres certainly no complaints from me regarding that lovely deep metallic green colour and front and side tampo detailing.

A darker shade of plastic glazing on the newest 2024 recolour of the Matchbox 2022 Ford Bronco Sport largely spares its blushes of having its separate plastic roof fitted so far below the interior window line! Perhaps a necessary evil in the constant battle of making their basic mainline profitable with such wafer thin margins but does look rather naff.

No complaints about flawless metallic green finish or tampo detailing even if the casting is perhaps a bit too small for its own good.

I'd say pretty much all new generation Ford Bronco bases have been covered by Mattels HW and MBX brands, even related nameplates based on different floorpans such as the Sport. Matchbox predictably got the opportunity in modelling one in totally factory fresh status which in part they've achieved successfully. The detailing is definitely a high point with modern on point tampo effect front and rear plus a shining metallic maroon finish. The downsides are its too small size, a common issue with modern era Matchbox, and its plastic upper body with its cheaply ill-fitting roof.

Matchbox appear to have all the new generation Ford Bronco bases covered especially since they brought out the Sport body variant this year. It now gets a fresh recolour for 2024 Case H with a classy metallic dark green and what looks to be darker glazing. That darker glazing does a better job in hiding its roof structure better than the first edition.

Found in a Spanish Tedi store though sadly not by me, i'm not due to go there until October!

The real Ford Bronco Sport is actually based on the Ford Escape and Maverick pick-up platform but styled to replicate its original brother. Its no surprise to see one in the Matchbox line up as both Mattel diecast brands have gone Bronco mad over the last couple of years!

Collectors have already voiced their disappointment at the clumsy way the roof has been executed with an ill fitting piece of plastic which extends too far in to the window areas. Great debut colour choice though and high levels of detailing.

It seems Mattel really have gone Bronco bonkers over the last couple of years with both Hot Wheels and Matchbox getting their fair share of the action. I can only assume the real vehicle has been a success in America?

Not content with their already well like standard five door variant which Matchbox released a couple of years ago they've now gone and modelled the Sport derivative.

Unfortunately they've really let cost compromises rule this time with its rather ill fitting floating roof piece which extends half way down the interior giving it a very very bizarre appearance! No metal door pillars, which in fairness is a regular occurrence at Mattel, looks particularly noticeable on this casting and so much so I had to do some DIY detailing.

However I do like its authentic pale grey/blue colour and detailing front and rear as intricate as ever.

Brand new 2025 Case C recolour of the Matchbox 2022 Ford Bronco Sport, a casting which impresses in terms of vehicle choice and detailing but also reminds you implicitly that its made to a very strict price!

Its size is perhaps a bit too small for a supposed "1/64" diecast and one representing a medium sized SUV plus its hard to ignore its strange plastic upper body and separately applied roof which is only partially disguised by darkened glazing. Its certainly not awful but they could have done a bit better considering most of the World pay significantly more than the one Dollar price point they are available in the US.

Mint and boxed.

Despite coming across a fresh untouched batch of new Matchbox at Tesco I didn't actually do my usual emptying of almost the entire contents into my basket! I did of course buy some duplicates but certainly not in quantities seen in the past, their 2.20 price certainly focus the mind!

Despite my reservations regarding its clumsy separate plastic roof I did grab a few of these brand new 2022 Ford Bronco Sport castings as a concept and vehicle choice I think they've done a decent job of it. Relentless cost saving ensures a cast free front and rear ensuring tampo detailing is an absolute necessity but I like the shape which resembles the full sized Bronco plus its debut colour looks utterly contemporary.

Yet another new Ford Bronco to hit the Matchbox line up and one which fills out the nameplate nicely by being based on the separate Sport body shell. Full marks to Matchbox for its vehicle choice though being a basic mainline casting designed to be sold in the US for such a small price means inevitable irksome cost cutting measures.

Most of its upper body is a one piece plastic unit sandwiched between its metal body and a separate plastic roof. In essence they've done this to make it less cheapo but it fits so low down the glazing it looks rather odd.

Great detailing though front and rear and a factory accurate pale blue/grey colour.

Created using MS CoPilot. Instructions: Create an image of a Ford Bronco Sport in eruption green. The term "eruption green" always produced fire and volcanic eruptions. CoPilot used the word "Bronco." Meta always corrupted the brand logo.
