If you’re familiar with the view in the Arc area, it will be easy for you to judge.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, in reality, the row of trees is not passing through the Arc; it ends way before it. What we visualize here is an optical illusion created by forced perspective.

Submission for flickrfriday #ForcedPerspective theme

While sitting quietly in the shadows and watching the slowly rising sun, it is looking like a perfect day ahead for a long drive in the E-type Jag.

A pseudo forced perspective shot of my 1/18th scale AUTOart die-cast model 1961 E-type Jaguar roadster, with a backdrop of another wonderful Murray River sunrise.

With 18 cars to keep shiny, this is an ongoing job. Maybe with a little product placement, I might get a kindly sponsor to help supply the polish! (I think it is called Wurtle Tax.....or something like that!)

Those good folks who live in NSW and Queensland reckon they are good at growing bananas. Well, this is how we do it in South Australia!

So, some of my pictures are back, but without the likes...strange.

This is the townsquare/marketplace in Schorndorf pretty close to where I live.

More model adventures.

I couldn't wait for daylight, so I headed off in the dark to test the new 1969 Chevrolet Corvette. The golden sunrise looked wonderful lighting up the low lying fog and glinting off the railway line alongside the parking bay near Keith in South Australia. It also gleamed on the shiny gold paintwork of the Corvette.

Taken off the coast benorth Scheveningen, the Netherlands.

These "cliffs", located off the coast, or perhaps more accurately on the beach of Meijendel, are in reality about 10 cm/4 inches tall. On the right you can see the sea; in the centre in the background you can make out the contours of the pier of Scheveningen.

DPS Assignment: Forced Perspective (2nd place)

I have seen many classic forced perspective pictures and this is one of the many I would like to try out. I just wish the chopsticks look clearer and the bokeh light not so clutter (I have a clearer version of the chopsticks but with smaller f/stop). I'll probably submit this one till I find another shot.

This famous Parisian piece of street art by Jeff Aerosol has been shot millions of times. I just wanted to find a different angle using it as a view beyond the city's bikes (Vélib'). I'm pretty sure that many other photographers have had the same idea though. This is a tough one to shoot and make it one of a kind. Oh well, I tried to. 😊

AAW July 3 - 10: Forced Perspective

WIT: Sometimes it is hard to play some pieces, and an extra big stretch is needed. I used a wide angle lens to make the hand look much bigger than it is, compared to my head. Cropped in post and got rid of the lamp behind my head, adjusted the colour and increased the light in the reflection.

The Ferrari F40 looks quite nice parked in my driveway and was definitely worth a photo or two! I know if I took one on the road, I would lose my licence in about 4.1 seconds!

The driveway surface is a new lightweight pretend bitumen surface I have only just made that can be mounted on one of my more solid tripods, so I can take this photography out on the road (so to speak) and we can see these cars out on the highways.

An early entry for Wing Wednesday! (Not sure if my internet connection will be going tomorrow)

It's time to wake up the neighbours again. Any fellow car enthusiasts out there will know the wonderful sound one of these Shelby Cobra 427 V8 engines can make when you give it a rev!

A forced perspective shot of a Solido die-cast 1/18th scale model Shelby Cobra 427 roadster parked in our street and ready for the road. I was setting up a second shot of me behind the wheel, but it started raining. This little model does actually come with a fully removable hard top roof and roll bar. More photos to come, hopefully from some locations outside of our village.

The real thing would be so nice to have. But, as one sold recently in the US for around US$ 5.5 million, I might need to get a little more in the piggy bank!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

Such a fine and sunny autumn day - which convertible should I take? I think the red Jag will always win for me.

But any will be great on a day like today!

Always nice to see a Ferrari in the driveway! I thought I'd give it a quick polish before seeing if red cars really do go faster. (They do!)

Another forced perspective shot of my little 1/18th scale Bburago model of a Ferrari 348. These Ferraris are quite low, measuring in at just over 1.1 metres high, while I am just under 1.8 metres tall. I am thinking it looks a little like I am a little too tall in comparison, but the measurements seemed to be right. They are a very low car in real life!

A very rare selfie! (but all eyes should be on the real subject - the car!) Taken on a ten second self timer which gave me just enough time to wander around into polishing position!

Bird photography is just getting harder and harder these days. I went for the Canon RF system so it would all be easy to carry on a hike. "It's lightweight" they said. "It's compact!" they said!

Even the little bird in the tree above it looks a little shocked.

I have already made one trip with the camera body.

My new mate Dougie is a great guy to have around. We didn't get to take the Jag to the local car show (thanks to not having a tow-bar on the Cruiser), but Dougie always finds something to do to help keep my fleet of cars in good order.

So there is no confusion, this is a fine example of forced perspective. No alterations were made to the layers, except sharpening/color/exposure in Lightroom.

A nostalgic black and white snapshot shot of two cars I have named Ziggy and Betsy. Ziggy is the 1963 AC Cobra roadster on the left, and Betsy on the right is a Holden FC dating to around 1960. The setting is on one of the marvellous old car ferries that cross the mighty Murray River in place of bridges. This particular crossing is at Walker Flat in South Australia and we are waiting patiently for the ferryman to open the gates. No payment is necessary of course as it is a free service.

Of all my model cars, I love the curvy lines of my E-type Jaguar the most. Especially when it is in British Racing Green!

My first chance to get outdoors with Big Red. Time for a check under the bonnet (hood) to make sure all is well before we head off exploring! Planning a big trip in a few months. Time to get those new tyres a little dirty!

A forced perspective shot of a 1/18th scale Kyoshso model 1981 Toyota Landcruiser. I deliberately left myself out of this shot - maybe in a few weeks I might sneak myself back in!

Note to self - "Buy a tow bar for the Jeep!"

Happy Gorgeous Green Thursday!

I said I was too scared to take this gem outside, but I got brave this morning to see how Ruby looked in daylight and to check out that wonderful engine.

This is my new best mate, and mechanic, Dougie. He was having a chat to my neighbour Max who lives over the road. They were having a little laugh at my expense, and thought I was a bit ambitious in buying the trailer to carry my old cars on, without first checking whether or not the Landcruiser actually had a tow-bar! Embarrassing! I was going to finally escape our street to get these cars out in some other scenery, but I might have to wait until the tow-bar arrives.

Meet Cal, the newest member of the team! Dougie was getting nervous being in charge of many millions of dollars worth of cars, so I hired him a security guard. Cal is not to be messed with and that holster often carries a weapon (mostly it carries his water bottle!).

Part of the deal in getting Cal to join the team was offering him free choice of all the cars as a "company car" and after giving it the once over with Dougie, he chose this! A good choice I think. I can't see him in a Ferrari somehow.

This car is my latest and greatest model car. It is one I have been after since I started collecting models. It is the 1948 General Motors Holden. Also known as the 48/215 or the FX. It was released in Australia in 1948 by General Motors as Australia's own brand, to be known as Holden, and was hugely popular in its day. I am super pleased to get this model as it was our family's first ever car back in around 1964 and served us well for 5 years.

This forced perspective shot of the model is not my usual scale of 1/18th, but is a slightly smaller 1/24th scale. Nicely detailed for its size, made by a brand called Trax, who I think specialised in just Australian models, but mostly Holdens as far as I know. They were only released as limited edition collectors items, so I was very pleased to get this.

I actually came across this model purely by chance, as yesterday, another resident of our retirement village came round to buy one of my spare walkers, and after we agreed on a price, he noticed my other model cars. We got talking about them and as it turned out, he had a small collection of model cars too. When I mentioned my desire to buy a Holden FX model, he said that he had one to spare, and so we agreed on a swap - one walker to help him get around in exchange for this lovely little model. A good deal for us both!

My darling better half could not resist a photo if it herself! (I didn't tell her the lens cap was still on - but then I have done that myself!!!)

A change of scene from my previous winter image, this shot was taken just after sunset on a warm and balmy summer evening. This is the wonderful Geelong waterfront area featuring Cunningham Pier as a backdrop.

Here is a link to a Google street-view image of this exact location.

www.google.com/maps/@-38.1437634,144.3623973,3a,75y,321.2...

It is basically a waterfront pedestrian boardwalk and I don't think it is normally open to cars, even though this linked image appears to be taken by the Google street-view vehicle.

I presented this shot a few months back, but in an old style, grainy, slightly sepia look to match the era of the car. This is the full colour version. I do love seeing the real ruby red!

Forced perspective shot of my CMC 1/18th scale model 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C. Real Pittosporum hedge backdrop and real me sitting 20 feet beyond the model. Lining my hand up to appear as though it is on the steering wheel took many attempts - mostly through trial and error. This was as close as I could manage. Going for a drive in Ruby was very good exercise!

This lovely red cat is new! It is a Series 1 E-type Jaguar roadster and is my latest pride and joy. It is only the second collector's quality piece I have bought, and it is worth every penny. I was extremely nervous having it outside like this, but got through a photo session without incident! It attracted quite a bit of attention from passers-by, and some just had to pose alongside it. I did have a selfie with it, but I couldn't compete with the beauty of the car! Even the great Enzo Ferrari himself declared this Jaguar to be the most beautiful car in the world. No arguments from me! You will hopefully see more of this beautiful "lady in red" as we venture out and about!
