A very nice car this one, replacement chassis, new Pistons/cylinders , ready to go.

Kiteboard Repaired

A practical press needing minimal restoration.

The press is solid cast iron with a bed 18 inches wide with a 24 inch stroke. It is stamped .918 and 18 on the bed but the space is more by a galley thickness.

The roller seems to be a very hard cream rubber that had a coat of whire 'undecoat' and a black 'paint', the surface was badly wrinkled so I went and carefully sanded it smooth, perhaps I will get a quote to recover when I can figure out what the optimal diameter and hardness should be. The ink plate slides under the press and both ends have threaded holes to fit end cheeks so I can lock up wood type easier without using chases.

If anyone has information on what would have been the correct hardness of rubber for such hand operated proof presses that would be usefull if I get the roller recovered one day. Also if there is any industry standard on how much the rubber would have been expected to compress with the paper in place so I can determine a good final diameter to have it ground to.
