A very close view, just barely larger than true macro, of marcasite stone beads, seen in strands heaped on a vendor's table at the Tucson Rock and Gem Show, TEP venue. Marcasite has a long history in jewelry, with the gemstone being a form of pyrite rather than the true mineral due to a tarnish that may come from the iron content in a form of pyrite.
