With so many Juvenile European Starlings about, it's hard not to focus on just one. This one here stood out against the green leaves of the service berry bush, a favorite food among birds.

Green Heron - - - - - - ( Butorides virescens )
Headed back to shore after flying over the bread I tossed to deep water to attract fish for him. He doesn't hover over the bait as the Great Blues and Egrets do.

Shot from my balcony over the lake, Thursday afternoon, September 6, 2007.

Ein Tiger, fotografiert im Moment vor der Aktion. Der Blick fixiert, die Zunge herausgestreckt, der Appetit geweckt. Die Jagd beginnt in Stille.

BEGINS WITH THE LETTER "T" is the topic for Friday, October 10 - Thursday, October 16, 2025 Group Our Daily Challenge
I'm a little disappointed in my technique here, as critical focus should have been on the heavens. But it was a beautiful night, a beautiful display and worth sharing.
Focus on the right one, it seems closer than the left one even though the right one is further away from the camera...
I think I like this shot even better than the one I posted before. It shows the entire body in focus.
Close-up with the Mitakon Speedmaster at F0.95. Just playing around. I think, I can reduce the focus even more and get closer to an almost abstract rendition of the camera or, at least, get to an image that offers just enough information to trigger the association "camera".

A female Orchard Oriole sitting on a Water Lily. Believe she was chasing insects and was watching something very intently. If you follow her line of sight, you will see a small bee flying in her direction. Believe she was focused on this little guy.
The two lonely ride operators keep pushing the button as a few patrons finish the night on the "Down Draft".

The power of cropping is illustrated in this segment of the previously posted image. I need to always remember that cropping of an image can focus a viewer and strenghten composition.

Autumn according to the meteorological calendar begins in September and ends in November. In the astronomical calendar, the beginning of autumn is marked by the autumn equinox which occurs around the 22 September.
During the autumn equinox the sun shines directly on the equator and day and night around the globe are of almost equal length - a day and night of roughly 12 hours each.
