It is medium-sized damselfly with about abdomen 42–44 millimetres (1.7–1.7 in) and hindwings about 28–29 millimetres (1.1–1.1 in) with black-capped blue eyes. Its thorax is velvet-black on dorsum and azure blue on sides. The dorsum is marked with narrow ante-humeral blue stripes. There is another moderately broad black stripe over the postero-lateral suture.
Contrary to popular belief, dragonflies and damselflies do not have a sting and their bite, although deadly to other insects, is not harmful to humans
Ypthima asterope, the African ringlet or common three-ring, is a species of Satyrinae butterfly found in most dry areas of Africa and Asia.
A dreamy scene in the shadows...I wonder if they (that would be the flying insects) have read the news.
Been distracted lately...not much to show for little effort...thought this was kind of surreal.

Hiding in the brilliant gallery of a croton plant a caterpillar arches in response to the camera. I am not sure of the species of the larva but it was 60mm in length and its appearance raises hope of a spectacular butterfly.
I think this might be a bluewing butterfly. It never opened it's wings, so was hard to tell. This is one of the several butterfly species that rest facing downward on tree trunks.

......no mask required. He’s sitting on my finger!
This dragonfly was buzzing me while I watered in the greenhouse. I leave the door flap open during the day now to keep the heat more even inside. This little dude kept landing on the support cord, so I reached out and he climbed onto my finger. He did this no matter how many times he flew off and I reached for him. He’s a beautiful blue-purple colour and is the biggest dragonfly I’ve seen so far. I hope he hangs around.
