The kite and key experiment was a scientific experiment which was proposed and may have been conducted by Benjamin Franklin with the assistance of his son William Franklin, June 1752. The experiment's purpose was to uncover the unknown facts about the nature of lightning and electricity.

This scene reminded me of Marionette puppets controlled by strings
The art of kite flying contrasted against the brilliance of this golden, winter sunset.
**It is really quite amazing to see how close these people can stand together without having their strings become tangled up in the sky.

My kids decided it was a great day to fly a kite. The wind was strong and it's only a short bike ride to the park. Landon and I drove down later and took some pictures. They were having a blast. They have never had a kite fly so high before.

Even though everyone thinks little Trudy is made of SUGAR 'N SPICE and EVERYTHING NICE ...
She secretly harbors a fascination in the adventurous life of PIRATES ...
.....
And she vows that NEXT TIME there is a photo shoot out East ... she will be sure to invite her little cousin, CADEE to come along ... PLENTY of wind for an entire TROUPE of kite flyers (and they could have all held each other up ... and kept poor little Trudy from falling over a zillion times ... face first ... into the mud!!)

BLYTHE-A-DAY
OCTOBER 2019
DAY 18: "FLYING A KITE"
~
~
Got the treat of my life yesterday.......
I took mum across on the ferry to Scotland for a wee day trip... My brother had told me about a Kite feeding station near Castle Douglas, so that was one of our destinations.
Oh my.......... what an amazing sight. These birds were incredible. I'd only ever got a slight glimpse of one in Northern Ireland - a number of breeding pairs had been introduced but some of them had been shot :'(
We stayed here for ages, so be prepared for loads of pictures of Kites over the next number of days LOL
If anyone is interested, the birds are fed at 2pm everyday of the year and up on 70 - 80 can be seen at once. This is a place called Bellymack Hill Farm, Laurieston and admission is £3.50. Well worth not only that, but the boat fare across the Irish Sea!!!!!!!
Have a really great Sunday everyone :)

Don’t Go Too Far
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Don’t go too far
On to a nowhere sky
Just be a love star
With my hopes high
Reaching to another heart
Inside and outside
Feelings of some apart
Where my kite can glide
Always be within trust
Like new sunshine
Or my kite will get lost
Across a distant line
I'll hold on to my rope
And never let go
If my kite's within hope
With the air flow
Don’t be a far-off dream
In diversities about
Catching a nowhere stream
That gives you a doubt
For everything goes then
Further then life is for
And we'll not reach again
To our hope of shore

We had a lovely weekend at Forster with my brother and his family - they live in a beautiful part of NSW only around 3.5 hours from Sydney.
The bad news is that my hand gave me grief more than usual - I was in so much pain that my brother gave me some of his extra strong painkillers which dulled the pain for about four hours at a time. It seemed to be much worse during the night for some reason. Thankfully I am booked in for some nerve conduction studies tomorrow (I had to wait 4 weeks for an appointment), so hopefully I will have some answers then. I just hope I can get relief before out trip to South Africa in 7 weeks time.
We remember our kites catching a zephyr and pulling against the string in our hand. Our parents cheered us on or our friends tugged at the strings of their kites beside us.
We had simple diamond shapes or complicated patterns of our favorite cartoon characters. We flew them on the beach, in a field, or from the top of the roof on our house.
Flying a kite is a joy no matter your age. For Throwback Thursday this week, share your favorite photo of kite flying on Facebook or Twitter and we'll publish a selection of our favorites next week on the Flickr Blog.

Mundesley, Norfolk summer afternoon, everyone relaxing and the bright kite flies merrily in the breeze... Portrait to exaggerate the foreground . I am pleased with this.
Please feel free to comment. It's lovely to be praised, but, if you see something which could improve an image don't be afraid to say! There are several of my contacts who give my images honest appraisal and I am grateful for that.

The book is 101 Things You Should Do Before Your Kids Leave Home (by David Bordon and Tom Winters). Lots of fun simple things like flying a kite and having a lemonade stand. I like the message on this page.
