Antelope Canyon, near Page, Arizona, is a narrow slot canyon carved out by the same waters that flow into the Colorado River and carved the Grand Canyon. The walls of the canyon have, over many years, been carved into what looks like fluid rock. The flood waters from rain above travel through cracks and caverns in the sandstone until it builds up significant speed near Antelope Canyon. As the flood water rushes and spirals through the canyon rock formations, it continually sands and reshapes the walls into fine masterpieces. This water eventually makes its way to Lake Powell and ultimately the Colorado River.

The walls of Antelope Canyon are over sixty feet high. The natural light from the sun, directly overhead at about noon, illuminate the walls and floor of the canyon making this place one of the most awe inspiring and beautiful photographic sights in America.

For decades, these mighty trees shaped the banks of the Isen River, here near the village of Schwindegg, nestled in the beautiful Isen Valley (Isental) in Bavaria. Yet, even the most towering forms eventually yield to the stronger element of water. One last time, they stretch their mighty branches skyward, as if in farewell, before finally vanishing into the water and mist. New generations of trees will shape the flow of time in similar, yet different ways. Let us hope that the conditions for this interplay within the flow of time will endure. Enjoy this landscape photography!

As it is going to be a hot weekend, we will probably stay at home as the area will be full of tourists. We might get an early morning walk tomorrow along the coast if we get up in time. Anyway, we are off on holiday next weekend so there will lots of time to get out and about then. We are renting a cottage in Northumberland.

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend
