This morning I was walking in my house to the kitchen, and noticed a beautiful, striking shaft of light streaming from the kitchen window and illuminating the dimly-lit dining room. I knew the light would disappear in a couple of minutes, so I quickly set up my camera. Sure enough, within a few minutes, the light totally changed, but this shot captured the tail end of the striking illumination.

Chrysanthemums, sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae.

They are native to East Asia and northeastern Europe.

Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China.

Countless horticultural varieties and cultivars exist.

HISTORY: The cultivation of chrysanthemums in China as flowering plants dates back to before 1500 BC. c.

In Japan it was probably cultivated between the 8th and 12th centuries.

The Imperial Seal of Japan is a chrysanthemum.

In autumn, during the flowering season, many festivals and exhibitions are held.

One of the five Chinese sacred festivals is the Double Ninth Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.

That day is also known in Japan as Chrysanthemum Day. (Source: Wikipedia)

Blumenvase - Flower Vase

Blumenvase - flower vase

Daylily flowers are famous for only lasting one day. For that reason, they don't make the greatest cut flowers. but I cut two anyway, because I wanted to have a bouquet with all red [or at least reddish] flowers. [So there's a Beebalm flower in here too].

This is for nishikabyo.

She has written such a nice testimonial for me! I am overwhelmed.

I have used Corel Paintshop Pro to create this in my virtual studio.

Hope Nishi likes it.
