Flowers in March is the theme for the Smile on Saturday Group this week.
I hope you smile bunches and bunches today and every day. Happy snapping.
Our bottlebrush shrubs are bursting like crazy in our yard. The bees and hummingbirds love them so we can't get too close. They just remind me of fireworks!
Purple dead-nettle is a low annual, unpleasant-smelling, fast-growing dead-nettle that blooms from March to October.

It can bloom even in mild winters.
It grows to a height of 10 to 30 cm and is very common throughout the Netherlands.
It grows on open, moist, very nutrient-rich soil in fields and vegetable gardens, on dikes and on roadsides, also in the dunes and under coppice wood. In a short time the plant can form entire carpets.
Photographed for Smile on Saturday Group. Theme FLOWERS in MARCH. Not normal for us to have flowers yet, but with mild temps I thought if I rode around and looked hard enough I may find some Snow Drops or Crocus's - well I found these little beauties and when I say little I mean little. I have never seen them so small. Perhaps the size of a dime, 10 cents piece. They were on some ones property behind a fence so I had to shoot between openings. Best I could get with my old equipment. When it's almost spring and roses have yet to bloom, it's a delight to have miniature roses on hand.
There is nothing more quintessentially spring than the daffodils as they burst into colour in their hundreds, bringing vibrancy into life after winter. Gazing upwards against a blue sky, they do look fabulous.
Very sad to hear of the passing of a Flickr friend.
I am sure she breezed by my images a few times.

Smile on Saturday! :-)
Theme Saturday, March 27
I read the context of the choice of the theme this Saturday, and I wanted to imagine how the flowers from the earth look at the person who inspired it.
Smile with your heart!
This image was taken for the theme "flowers in march" of the group "smile on saturday". In particular, this theme is dedicated to the memory of a member of the group, Marcy Schrum. Even if I didn't know her well, I offer this flower image to her memory.

At first I photographed a real still life – but then my preference for surprises led me to experiment with longer exposure times combined with moving the camera ... So the restrained bouquet of flowers turned into a stormy embrace. I think spring deserves it ;-)
