A lily from a nearby pond, no frogs unfortunately. Textured background. Not sure if this is a photo or art? Or if it even matters. It's what I like :)

Another macro for Macro Mondays, theme curves. It's actually an individual agapanthus bud covered in raindrops. Have a great week every one !

For Macro Monday's "New" theme.

The front lawn here has been overrun by these tiny little native violets for near 10 years now. About twice a year I mow them, sadly, which I did recently. Quite fitting that at the start of a new year, a few of the violets having start to grow back - new life. This little fellow was about 5mm across. The meek shall inherit the lawn?

Happy new week out there, hope the post Christmas/New Year hangovers have all dissipated.

Alongside the cicadas, the other harbingers of summer here, in the flora world, are Agapanthus and Lilly Pillys. In our little Close, six out of the eleven houses have agapanthus sprouting everywhere, just like hairs from an old man's ears! I think I'm getting FOMO—of the aggies, not the nose hairs!

The massive Lilly Pilly in our backyard starts flowering big time in summer, attracting thousands of bees. However, this year, despite it being in full bloom, there are no bees, which is a bit disconcerting. We all know how essential bees are to us, the tireless pollinators, supporting the growth of plants, crops, and ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. I hope they show up soon!

And if you're wondering what a Lilly Pilly is, Wikipedia advises that it is a summer-flowering, winter-fruiting evergreen tree, native to Australia and belonging to the myrtle family. This shot is just one of the tiny little flowers of which there are thousands.

Cheers !

A pink rose, possibly a 'Queen Elizabeth' or 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' variety.

A vibrant close-up from Ras Al Khaimah captures the delicate beauty of snapdragon blooms in soft pinks, oranges, and yellows. The rich bokeh background enhances the foreground’s sharp details, while a tiny bee adds life to the scene, celebrating nature’s elegance and the fleeting charm of spring blossoms.

The Cut-leaved Bramble is the only species with strongly lobed and dissected leaflets, making it instantly recognisable.

St John's wort, is a flowering plant in the family Hypericaceae. It is believed to be a medicinal herb with antidepressant activity, although high-quality clinical evidence for such effects is limited.

Erigeron annuus, known as annual fleabane, is a delicate member of the aster family that originally comes from North America. Today it has spread through much of Europe and is often found along roadsides, on railway embankments and on fallow ground. The plant usually grows between thirty and seventy centimeters tall and carries many small flower heads with fine white ray florets and a bright yellow center that look like tiny daisies. It blooms from early summer into autumn and offers a long lasting source of nectar and pollen for wild bees, hoverflies and other insects.
