Not sure what this billboard is advertising with that invitation. The late afternoon sun is casting long shadows from the overhanging floodlights onto the billboard. Seen on South Road, Hilton.

For the sake of tourism there is a strong flashlight aimed at the old packhorse bridge at night which makes the whiole setting loiok rather unnatural and strange. I sort of felt sorry for this lovely old bridge which be 300 years old next year for never having a moment of quiet and darkness ;) :)

An overhanging floodlight looks back down on its own shadow sandwisched between the white H flag and the blue uppercase letters of the Thebarton Swimming Centre.

Dywedir bod yr eglwys hon yn dangos meddwl pensaernïol y rhai a oedd yn nghanol adfywiad Anglicanaidd 30au'r bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg, sef Tractariaid Rhydychen o amgylch J. H. Newman.
Cychwynnwyd ar yr adeilad yn 1839, ac ’roedd M. D. Williams, o Gwmgynfelin, adeiladwr yr eglwys, yn frawd i Isaac Williams, a oedd yn fardd ac yn Dractariad. Defnyddiodd Williams bensaer o'r enw H. J. Underwood, sef y gŵr yr oedd Newman wedi ei benodi ar gyfer eglwys Littlemore, swydd Rhydychen. Defnyddiwyd arddull Gothig Cynnar Seisnig cywir, a chostiodd £3,000, swm eithriadol o fawr ar y pryd.
Bwriedid codi tŵr, ond am fod hynny'n rhy ddrud, trodd y ficer cyntaf at William Butterfield i gynllunio ffrynt gorllewinol newydd, a chyntedd deheuol, 1848-50. Dyna sydd amlycaf yn y llun hwn.

Na Naomh Uile, Llangorwen
Deirtear go léiríonn an eaglais seo tuairimí ailtireachta na ndaoine a bhí i gcroílár na hathbheochana Anglacánaigh sna 1830í, is é sin a rá J. H. Newman agus na Oxford Tractarians.
Cuireadh tús leis an séipéal seo sa bhliain 1839. Ba é M. D. Williams ó Cwmgynfelin an tógálaí. Bhí a dheartháir, Isaac Williams, ina fhile agus ina Thractarach. Bhain Williams úsáid as H. J. Underwood, an t-ailtire a cheap Newman don eaglais i Littlemore, i gContae Oxford . Baineadh úsáid bheacht as stíl Ghotach Luath-Shasanach, agus chosain an eaglais £3,000, méid an-mhór ag an am.
Bhí sé i gceist túr a thógáil, ach toisc go raibh sé ró-chostasach, d'iompaigh an chéad bhiocáire chuig William Butterfield chun aghaidh thiar agus póirse nua ó dheas a dhearadh idir 1848 agus 1850. Sin atá chun tosaigh sa phictiúr seo.

All Saints, Llangorwen
It is said that this church shows the architectural thinking of those who were at the heart of the Anglican revival in the 1830s, namely J. H. Newman and the Oxford Tractarians. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_Movement The church was begun in 1839, and the builder was M. D. Williams of Cwmgynfelin, brother of Isaac Williams, a poet and Tractarian. Williams used H. J. Underwood, the architect Newman had appointed for the church at Littlemore, Oxfordshire. A correct Early English Gothic style was used, and the church cost £3,000, an extremely large amount at the time.
It had been intended to build a tower, but as that proved too expensive, the first vicar turned to William Butterfield to design a new west front and south porch , 1848-50 . That dominates in this picture .
I was walking Bobby a few nights ago and coming past this second hand car sales garage "Autohaus", between the overhead display panels and the metal fence was a huge web and in the centre there she was, the web glistening under the floodlight, I couldn't get home fast enough to get my machine and get back up there. I took about a 130 shots and this silhouette was one of the best that came out.
I dusted of the Tamron 70-200mm due to the height of the location plus the Tamron is great for blowing out backgrounds. Having an immediate and localised light source is a blessing when shooting these girls, usually I go to my usual canal side location thanks to the amber coloured over head strobe lights, but this was a way different situation and I was grateful for the change in scenery.
Friday tomorrow and I hope everyone's had a great week, so as always thank you! :)
PS: Zoom in ;)

The floodlights at Doha sports club intersect with each other
Your imagination does not end. There is more...
We went down to photograph Menai Bridge by night, which was OK, but on our way back we could see that St Tysilio's church and grave yard was lit up by the floodlights of the local rugby club. This made a pretty amazing scene.
My thanks to the couple of fellow photographers who pointed this out to me and encouraged me to take the picture. And of course thanks to the local rugby club!
Nog één van afgelopen maandag, ditmaal met de 6-stopper.
Another shot of the illuminated windmills at Kinderdijk from last monday, this time with the 6-stopper.
Shot of a floodlight of a local DIY store. Each light has 88 lenses/mirrors, which are illuminated from below by 4 big spot lights. Negative version.
Please view in full size for the best effect.
Kinderdijk vanavond. Licht van de derde molen ging veel te laat aan vanavond. Dan maar een bootje voor wat extra licht :-)
