A joke/tribute shot to Paul's "Where the Magic Happens" photo. My angle isn't as dramatic, but that's because I can't bend :) He was celebrating his 200,000 in 2008, and is about to reach half-a-million as well. A talented guy.
Thank you for the views, favs and comments. There has been a bit of a surge of views over the last four weeks and today 09/09/2025 Flickr has recorded that I have accumulated seven million views!

The image is of Margaret Bourne-White (1904-1971) onboard the SS Washington sailing to Europe from New York to take Second World War photographs. She was in Moscow for the first air raids in the autumn of 1941. Many of Bourke-White's large-format cameras were lost in 1942 when she was aboard a troopship torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the Mediterranean. Some of her most haunting pictures were taken at Buchenwald concentration camp, where she arrived within a day of the liberation in 1945.
Compare with Flickr Stats 06-09-08. The first peak is due to posting photos from Go Play NW 2008; the second, from posting the Fremont Solstice Parade 2008 photos. Prior to June 09, my daily views were typically in the 0-10 range; since the second peak, my daily views have been more in the 20-30 range. I'll be curious to see whether it persists at that slightly higher level.
I don't intend to post one of these each month, I just wanted to capture the two unusually large peaks, and also contrast it with the pretty flat graph before Go Play NW.
Next to the waterfowl area, there was a model showing a cross section of pond life, with realistic life size models of various animals likely to be in the pond.

The image used above is of Yousuf Karsh (1908-2002), who was one of the most famous and accomplished portait photographers. Captured here in London by Steve Bent.
I think the flickr stats behaving kinda weird over the last couple of days. Check the screen shot, it says for 31st Dec 0 views and 7 comments. How can there be comments
with out any views. Even the "This Week" and "Last Week" stats are kind of weird. Click Here for large size

my flickr stats shows that there were a thousand plus views in one day.. wow..
something wrong with flickr?
want to believe that I'm that popular, but I think this is a glitch .. the dejavu inside matrix .. :)

My only regret is putting this collage together without an image to represent the most important part of flickr to me ... the marvelous friendships I've found here!

I know for a lot of my contacts this is no big deal at all but today was the first time in my flickr history that I got 10 favorites in one day.
And, what was crazy about it was it wasn't on the same photo (I think my previous high was seven and all but two of those were on the same shot).
The ten different favorites were on ten different photos from all over my stream - from one on the second most recent to a 20th on one of my most popular photos ever.
It got so I almost couldn't work in the excitement as I kept trying to drive it still higher after I got the 8th.
I doubt I'll have another day like that in the near future.
