One of the local water lilies in bloom. I get fascinated by these plants every summer, and the numerous bees who cavort around in them. I'm not sure if bees cavort but if I was a bee I would definitely cavort in these lilies!

Fun Fact: Only white lilies (& tiger lilies) are scented, coloured varieties have no fragrance.

Did you know there is a plant that is so deadly if you sit under it for 10mins you will surely die? Yep, the water Lilly ;)

Or...take 3, of the same scene! Again, this is the Mississippi River, as taken at Trempealeau, Wisconsin. The sunset isn't that dramatic, but I thought it was pretty with the mountains in silhouette, and the river shimmering in the light! Hope you enjoy!

So this Booma, who I liked to think of as my little mini-beast

friend. Booma & Ranga were my two pet leaf insects who sadly passed away last. year. They made great low maintenance pets! A cluster of gum leaves, spray their enclosure with some water mist every couple of days and they were happy campers. They liked going out to play now and then, in some of the potted plants around the yard. Ranga, the female, used to like play acting the scene from Titanic and hanging from my fingers, arms into the wind. She was Rose, and I was, ahmmm, the Titanic. Bonus thing is they were great for terrifying some of the lady neighbours too 😉 I miss my cute little mini-beasty friends

Fun facts about leaf insects:

- they walk in a rocking motion, and when they are in amongst the leaves, they sway to imitate the wind blowing on real leaves.

- If no males are around, the female is able to reproduce by herself.

If you are wondering about their names, think about them in the context of stick insects

Happy humpday all 😀

In looking back through my archives, I came upon this shot, and several like it. I thought it was so beautiful, the explosion of color! This shot was taken between Tomah and Sparta, Wisconsin, on highway 16. We hadn't yet moved back here, but we were in the process. This was on our trip out here to go house hunting! Such fun!

Hope you all enjoy!

For Crazy Tuesday's Song Title Theme.

The Red & The Black is a song by one of my favourite bands growing up, Blue Oyster Cult.

It is also a song title by Iron Maiden. And apparently a song from Les Miserables, but I've never heard that. Popular title it seems.

So, I wanted to try the iPad/Lensball photography thing for a while now & finally got around to it. That's my iPad providing the light with a bright red screen at back and the lens ball in front, taken in a totally dark garage. It is quite addictive, and I have many shots with backgrounds ranging from a single colour, to some of my landscape shots, to some fractals generated in apps, all with differing angles through the Lensball. Think I'm addicted, there will be more ;)

Hit "L" to be absorbed into the red and black , if you dare 👹

Don't ask how I came up with this setup but it did happen today. A tea strainer, a drop of water and a CD. May be my favorite for 2020. This is a 1 inch square frame, or 25mm square.

... the heart of a blooming anemone

This dwelling by the Klettjønna lake was the dwelling for the mine foreman at Storwartz. The foreman was in charge of all the workers at the mine.

The building was originally built as an office sometime around 1900 at Muggruva in the Nordgruvefeltet (the North Mine area). In 1938 it was moved to its present site where it was used as the foreman’s dwelling. The stables were built in 1939.

When production was stopped at Nye Storwartz, in 1953, the building was taken over as accommodation for the workers from the floatation plant. The building was in continuous use all the time there was work at the floatation plant until it closed 1972.

(Grazie Enrico!)
