59 years ago, today, we heard the prophetic words of Dr. King.
He had a dream.
Some parts of the dream have come true.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

A few of my Instagram hashtags...
Don't bother searching or clicking the Tag "hashtag" unless on a Contact's or your own page!
Why are 3 of these blue and active links? Because the # is up against the left edge of the page.. Add a space before the #
On Flickr, hashtags work like plain tags in the tags list, but if used with the # in the Title or Description, they are live links like on Instagram....
Flickr has just changed the way you add tags now, they have removed the little arrow next to the tag and if you click the new ... Three Dots, or the Edit tags link, you are taken to a page of existing or some new Tags to use. Aug 2023....
But if you add several Tags, remember to hit the Enter key, then the Done command!

These boots were found in an abandoned homestead in rural Alberta. The homestead was originally erected around 1920, making it over 100 years old. Even though the buildings have clearly sustained the damage which accompanies abandonment, the property is a testament to the quality of the original workmanship.

We opted to take a day trip to Hard Luck Canyon as a way to get out for some fresh air, and to take our dog for some adventuring. We explored a good length of the canyon, led by our dog’s nose, and just as it started to rain, we made it back to the falls. The rain and cloud cover really helped the greens in the moss pop!

As evening settles over 17th Street NW near R Street in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle, the city’s character shines in warm light and bold colors. These historic red-brick rowhouses—some with turrets, bay windows, and cornices—have been lovingly restored and now host independent businesses, from Julia’s Empanadas to neighborhood cafes and services. A softly glowing pharmacy sign, twinkling interior lights, and a covered outdoor dining area create a cozy urban rhythm.
The turreted red building near the corner captures the eye, not only for its architecture but as a symbol of this area’s vibrancy and cultural richness. A U-Haul trailer on the side hints at the constant ebb and flow of city life, while a rainbow pride flag and painted crosswalk reflect the neighborhood’s deep ties to LGBTQ+ visibility and inclusion. Leafless trees frame the block, and bike lanes and pedestrian signage show off D.C.’s commitment to walkability and urban design.
This photo celebrates the intersection of history and modernity: 19th-century buildings reimagined for 21st-century life, a community that embraces change while honoring its roots. Whether stopping by for empanadas, gathering for conversation under heated lamps, or simply strolling home, this block glows with the quiet joy of everyday city life.

We drove into the end first time on the 16th after leaving Madura at 3:30 sandwiches and removed a stick from the left tyre.
It was a low sink and low flat cave. "First in, in a car I'd say"
Out and lit fire. soup.steak. peas and spuds. Felt good and talked about school & Uni. Tech and jobs until 11:15.. Radio on & a Beautiful clear sky and full moon lit the night...
We woke at 7 on the 17th. (Never thought I would be at my wedding a year later on the 17th Dec 1966) (and back all over the Nullarbor to Twilight Cove in the VW in Dec this year, 1965)
I cleaned the plugs and adjusted the right-hand tappets. Drove the VW into the cave and took a couple of photos.
