The Bhumibol Bridge transforms into an abstract symphony of golden lines slicing through the night. From this angle, the monumental structure becomes intimate — less bridge, more music — its illuminated cables vibrating like strings against a canvas of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

The details in this little bird’s feathers had me completely mesmerized. Nature’s textures are unmatched — soft, subtle, and full of quiet strength. Capturing moments like this reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

This plains bison bull was enjoying a peaceful summer morning at Elk Island National Park in Alberta. He was grazing in a beautiful field, letting the summer breeze flow through his cape, and taking a moment to appreciate the stillness of the day, before tourists flocked in to stare at him.

We had a smouldering log with enough glow to toast some old bread... This could be Sunday Morn. 20th June after a wet night there was enough heat in the telephone pole to make some toast!
Last photo taken with the Pentax before the shutter curtain broke latter that day! Sunday! Then took B&W photos with Dave's camera. See prints in Album.
This area was on the Eastern edge of the granite belt, Yilgarn Craton, see maps and images here.. So Dave was interested in mapping the limestone interface with it, so we returned to the Mt Ragged area a few times..
We drove up the coast about 20 miles again, inland along the track around the salt lakes, low range over the dunes and found a spot to get down onto the beach. We took it in turns to drive. As Dave drove along the beach we began to sink in the sand so took some high revving diversion up onto the dunes.
I tried to take a photo, but had to put a new film in, then the shutter broke! We managed to traverse back up and down the rough dunes back south to a track in the rain as darkness approached.
We erected the tent in the rain at Israelite Bay again, and cooked tea in the tnt on the choofers...
Next day, Monday 21st we drove off the mud flats and the fan belt broke... the spare was the wrong size!
So now that's another story to be continued!
Note on my Facebook page about scanning and documenting these slides..
Julie !, 100s more of that year to come. All photos had to have some significance and a story so as not to waste film, with the added effort of posting them back to Kodak, waiting a couple of weeks, then sitting in the tent out of the wind and rain to write the details on each slide.
I have generally named each image on flickr with that description, and added more notes from my diary. This will be a life-long retirement project. Looking up each slide, finding the reference in my diary and copying some of the diary entry..
