A doughnut (sometimes spelt donut in American English; both /ˈdoʊnət/) is a type of pastry made from leavened fried dough. It is popular in many countries and is prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls, and franchised specialty vendors. Doughnut is the traditional spelling, while donut is the simplified version; the terms are used interchangeably.
Doughnuts are often accompanied by coffee or milk. They are sold at doughnut shops, supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol/gas stations, cafes or fast food restaurants.
The theme for today's Flickr Birthday Challenge is Joy. This is one of the places on that earth that brings me joy. This is on the shores of Lake Michigan. I've been visiting these beaches since I was a child and they still give me a sense of peace and calm just walking the shoreline.

The beginning of something great?
I don’t use film that much now, but the loading of it still gives that feeling that you might create something great with it.

I couldn't resist focusing on my new watercolor brushes, they are perfect. It is a pleasure to paint with them because they control the release of water and paints very well.
A look down through the light torus into Napoli's Toledo subway station. This is the opposite view of the picture I posted the day before yesterday.
This is for the final theme for the Flickr Birthday Challenge. The theme is awe. This was pretty easy to decide what to load. It was one of the most awe inspiring things I’ve ever witnessed. This is from the total solar eclipse last year. We were fortunate to be in the path of totality and to have a clear day for viewing. We sat in our backyard and watched as the world went black.
A symbol of new beginnings—a double double, representing the starting roll in backgammon. Two pairs of identical dice placed neatly, echoing the game of strategy, luck, and fresh starts. The bold orange backdrop enhances the simplicity and symmetry, marking the start of something great.

In August 2022, the Danube reached its lowest water level in the last 20 years, and it was a unique opportunity to explore the bottom of the receding river. We were very surprised by the sight, instead of the expected sand and mud, the bottom of the river was covered with a thick layer of river clam shells. My son and granddaughter rescued several small fish that were trapped in ponds, found a small anchor and brought back a bunch of beautiful shells.
Where they stand, the depth of the river at normal water level is between 2 - 3 meters.
