With my back to the first rays of sunlight I looked in awe as the slopes of Grandfather Mountain came alive with the reflected, rose colored light reflecting off the colorful clouds streaming to infinity to the west. Appreciating the opportunity having witnessed another dawn...

An opportunity to say thanks to all those who have kindly given comments, faves, invites and advice. They are, and will continue to be, appreciated. My first six weeks on Flickr have been very educational, with some interesting feedback. ;-) I still have a lot to learn. Can greylag geese be white?
It can be white, completely gray (like the wild form), or somewhere in-between.
Are greylag geese native to UK?
There are two subspecies of Greylag Goose recognised: Western Greylag A. a. anser from Iceland, and north and central Europe; wintering from Scotland, south to northern Africa and east to Iran.
The greylag goose is a large, bulky, goose with a big head, and the largest of the grey goose species. It was one of the first species of animals to be domesticated in Ancient Egypt about 3000 years ago and is a typical farmyard goose. The domestic breed is known as A. a. domesticus and can interbreed with Anser anser. Many birds seen in the UK outside of the winter months are re-colonised from domestic populations and are often semi-tame. It is seen as a pest due to overgrazing of agricultural crops and is listed in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, meaning it can be killed or taken outside of the close season.

The Great Egret is a dazzling sight in many a North American wetland. Slightly smaller and more svelte than a Great Blue Heron, these are still large birds with impressive wingspans. They hunt in classic heron fashion, standing immobile or wading through wetlands to capture fish with a deadly jab of their yellow bill. Great Egrets were hunted nearly to extinction for their plumes in the late nineteenth century.

I don't recall when exactly I began to take an interest in the bridges of Yosemite Valley. Still, I have always felt that they would make excellent subjects to capture through photography, provided the lighting conditions were just right. Usually, when my family and I visit Yosemite, we focus on the more popular viewpoints, such as Valley View and Artist's Point. However, on our most recent trip, I had some free time during mid-day, which I spent photographing some of the gorgeous bridges within the park.
Fortunately, the low water levels of the Merced River meant that I had a lot of luck with it acting as a reflection pool in many locations. One spot where the reflections worked exceptionally well with the fall colors was the Pohono Bridge. My main challenge was timing my shots to avoid getting cars in the frame, as this is a busy part of the loop road. In terms of composition, my main goal was to minimize the amount of sky in the shots since the timing meant that the sky would be overexposed mainly due to the wide dynamic range of the scene.
