This one was worth letting blood for (you don´t want to get to know the local strain of super-mosquitoes over here) - as this evening at Santai Mengji was such a delightful one.
You can see a bit of movement in the bushes towards the right, as (thankfully!) there were some gushes of wind.

My first attempt at doing a more modelling-ish video, techno music and all. It took me a couple of tries to get it right, but it turned out pretty much how I wanted. So yay.
The flamingos at Stone Zoo are used to people and don't mind me sticking my camera and flash in their face.
This Warbler was having a great time in the tree right next to my RV so I lifted the screen and stuck my camera out my window to get a few shots of this beauty.
Below is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet (I spotted several of these guys as I walked around the lake) They are fast and stay mostly in the shadows. Hope to get one with the crown showing one of these days!
The flash from my Polaroid camera.

I don't like flashy awards, since they're mostly given because of an obligation to stupid group rules. If you got something to say, say it in your own words and not by copying and pasting. I don't follow such rules, so if you have the sweaper running, don't even bother to invite me please. As of now the flashy awards will be removed, no offence!
Buff-necked Ibis, Curicaca - Theristicus caudatus
We saw these several times in open country--they even liked to visit hotel lawns.
I received my first ring flash today. Still working out how to use it, but I see it being really useful for my macro photography. I was impressed with the way it lit this rose. I actually prefer it in sepia, as compared to the colour photo. The details are more interesting.
European starling visiting today. Back yard birding in rural Bureau County in north central Illinois.
The Stone Zoo in Stoneham, Massachusetts, has a large enclosure for tropical birds. A flock of flamingos has a pond, where they bath and preen. Their honking can often be heard throughout the zoo.
