Image taken during a hike in the amazing Borgarfjördur Eystri in North East Iceland. The graveled road that leads into the secluded Fjord can be seen. Borgarfjördur is famous for its hiking trails, but it also is the home of the Queen of the Icelandic Elves!
The vista we had on departing Sam Ford Fjord in the Canadian Arctic of its glaciers, and steep, stark hills.
After day and a half of rough seas, we finally entered the calm waters of Kangerlussuaq fjord. The effects of climate change were evident in the valleys where you could only see vestiges of retreating glaciers.

A silent evening by the Hjørundfjord at Sunnmore. The fjord runs like a giant canyon through mountainous Sunnmørsalpene. This is one of the world's most spectacular fjords.
In the end you will find Øye. Øye has been a central location for the early tourist traffic to Norway since the end of the 1800s and first 1900s. This is a good starting point for mountain hikes.
Here you will also find the famous hotel Union. The hotel stands in its former splendor and looks like it did when it opened in 1891. A few years ago the hotel got the award "one of the worlds 12 most exciting hotels ."
During the ice ages, deep valleys and narrow inlets filled with ocean water, creating the natural wonders that the modern world often refers to as fjords. Although there are many fjords across the globe, the ones that grace the Norwegian coastline reign as the most popular because of their astonishing beauty. Hundreds of cruise ships bring tourists to Norway every year to experience these marvelous inlets. However, the mountains and villages surrounding the Norwegian fjords also offer many incredible sights and adventures.

Hjørundfjord in the western part of Norway, runs like a giant canyon through mountainous landscape. As soon as I have free time for exceptional experiences, I seek out this area and climb up to one of these amazing peaks.

Am Ende des Fjords finden Sie Øye. Øye war seit Ende des 18. und Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts ein zentraler Ort für den frühen Touristenverkehr nach Norwegen. Dies ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Bergwanderungen. Hier finden Sie auch das berühmte Hotel Union. Das Hotel erstrahlt in seiner alten Pracht und sieht aus wie bei seiner Eröffnung im Jahr 1891. Probably the best day of my Norwegian holiday. I can go on and on showing wonderful scenery. Another shot from Aurland fjord, and it won't be the last. When the sun shines landscapes never bore.
