Llanerch Home was a home for elderly and disabled people in the borough of Bridgend, South Wales. It was built originally as a manor house in the early 20th century, and became a private home for the elderly in the mid-1980’s. It closed to the public in 2000 after a fire severely damaged a large proportion of the structure.

These photographs, taken in June and August 2012, showcase the building as it stands today.

Inspiration for some of the framing of the shots came from the 1975 New Topographics exhibition.

Taken with an Opteka 0.20 AF Fisheye lens.

This is my Opteka Fisheye adaptor 0.2x added to my Nikon 18 - 55 kit lens.

The world as viewed through a fisheye in the park.

When we got home tonight, Andrew and I saw this beautiful complete rainbow in the sky. Ironically, I had rented a fisheye lens from Tempe Camera on a whim this afternoon. I quick snagged it out of the case, threw it on and having never used it before... snapped this shot. I could never have captured it with any other lens! I'm still amazed!
