met up with craigdanielosbourne to get some night shots of this silo near his house,
fisheye of the old store shed. had to up the iso to compensate for the f-stop on the manual focuss on the fisheye. unfortunatly i didn't get the light painting on the roof right and didn't have time to do it again.
some pictures of the pro-optic 8mm fisheye lens. this one's a canon mount and branded pro-optic, but it is available for nikon and pentax mounts, and possibly others. I believe this same lens is also marketed under other brands, such as bower, samyang, vivitar, and others.
I got mine at adorama, and I have only great things to say about them.
it was $289, which is crazy cheap, if you ask me. the only thing it lacks is aperture control and autofocus. the autofocus is really unimportant due to the nature of the lens though. there's basically 'near' and 'far' the hyperfocal is so big that it doesn't matter.
ken rockwell has a good writeup of this lens on his site: kenrockwell.com. I bought it because of that review, and I have to say I agree with everything he says.
On the way home from the beach, sooc, first time with this fisheye film camera, and light leaks. I like.

...just cropped off the top and bottom aggressively from a fisheye shot. This is fresh off the camera. I took it this morning cuz I couldn't sleep. This is the E-18 motorway into Oslo as it passes the suburb of Slependen in West of Oslo.
The quality is not that great but the perspective is cool.

Square format image taken with a Nikkor 16mm fisheye looking up under a rotting log. I really like the rich warm colours on this log.
Exposure was for the background … of which most has been removed by this crop … and then a couple of speedlights used to boost the shadows. This may explain the somewhat long exposure.
I quite like using flash to fill in the shadows and give more clarity to the gills on the mushroom.
