A river otter has snatched some fish remains in the small harbor where local fisherman clean their fish. At the same time, a solitary large California sea lion has been hanging out there and is thinking he wouldn't mind having that fish for himself!

I was lucky enough to get to the marina the other day (my reward for being so good at the dentist, lol). I was happy to see many pelicans and, for the first time ever, this delightful little cat! In all my years going to the marina to take photos, I've never seen a cat there. It's possible it belonged to the charter captain, because after he finished up, I noticed the cat was no longer around. Anyway, since my boys weren't especially cooperative this week, I thought I'd post this pretty little one's photo. I have another of it's beautiful face, but that's for another day!
Happy Caturday!
Fishermen clean and gut their catch on the Cascade Pier, Norfolk Island tossing the remains over into the sea. The animals and birds of course know this and come around. This shark was cruising around, amongst the smaller fish, gulping down the bits tossed into the clear water. As the Fishermen are not commercial the quantities are such that the water stays crystal clear and clean. There was a Turtle nearby as well but I don't think it fed on the detritus. A couple of boys tried to catch one of the shark but ended up catching one of the trimmed pieces of the Trumpeter fish tossed overboard, as well as catching their hooks on each others line!
I had my Polarising Filter on the lens at this time.

There are some images you like that no one else seems to. For instance this picture I took over 30 years ago, with film. I recently re-scanned it. I told my wife it was one of my favorites, she asked why? Obviously she is not a fan of this one. I see the reds and the result of someone catching their food. My wife probably just smells the smell in her head. I hope you like it.

Week #36 (w/b 15 March) Reflections - Capturing good reflections can be quite difficult as we have to think about our perspective in a different manner. Sometimes, that could mean we have to shoot the reflection upside down to catch a good image. Glass buildings, puddles and all those shiny objects in our kitchens are all great for our week of reflections.

This bird was a new customer at our fish cleaning station. I had no idea what it was with the green mask on its face, but it definitely was the dominate male. There were four other egrets, 24 pelicans, and several gulls and only the large pelicans were not displaced by him. He ate first. When we got through cleaning the fish, my wife looked it up on the internet.....the first one we had ever seen. If you look it has a beautiful plumage with doesn't show well in the photo.
Trying to show you his beautiful plumage but with the rock background it doesn't do the bird justice....Oh well....I tried.
I was instructed by a viewer that this is a breeding male in full uniform. This must be the season for strutting your wares.

It was easy to spot a fish cleaning station at Forster, NSW, as there would be a number of pelicans and seagulls patiently waiting.
