Sarah scampers through the kitchen clutching two foam blocks in her hands. The fridge was covered with a variety of photos and cards.
On the left are zucchini blossom stamens, which you definitely want to remove from this dish.
On the right are crocus stigmas (saffron), which you definitely want to add to this dish.
The lesson? Some flower parts = tasty. Others = not so much.

Behind our house -- in the flower bed that sort of belongs to us, sort of belongs to the city -- a little purple crocus grows valiantly amid the thick slimy stratum of decaying oak leaves left to collect there for years by the previous owner's sloth and/or indifference.
