We got our first frost a couple of days ago. First thing in the morning, I looked out the window and saw the sunlight shining on the leaf covered yard and had to go outside for a bit. I'm so glad they didn't get raked up yet :)

We had the most amazing weather and light yesterday while driving home from Edinburgh. The air was crisp and cold, the fields and trees were wearing a silver sprinkle of frost and the sky gave us a lovely, long lasting sunset to go with the seasonal change. What a wonderful day to travel :)

This was taken in December, after an early frost. I went outside to try to capture the sunlight in the melting frost...squatted down and shot the blades of grass, only to see a very tiny worm hanging onto one of the blades. It was probably 1/4" long.

Shot with the Olympus E-M1, SIGMA 30mm F1.4 Lens.

For today's Fence Friday I've chosen an image of landscape minimalism and lots of negative space because I enjoyed this winter scenario with a cold sunset over frosted fields in Scotland so very much.

Happy Fence Friday!

First frost powdering the fields near Edinburgh on our way home from a short stay in Scotland's remarkable capital. The drive felt so special for rarely do we get to see this frosty scenario in the UK :)

I will miss getting into the lowlands and seeking out new ice ribbons for the first frost this year. Looking back at the first frost flower I took a photo of, I have a few ideas of where some might be here in Broken Arrow area but would be someone else's property.

I love aspen leaves!

The season’s first frost covers goldenrod blossoms at the Marshlands Conservancy (Rye, New York)—October 13, 2012

the last few nights produced frost on the lawn and fields. I missed most of it, being under the weather [reaction to a tick bite], but did go out today to find most of the leaves down, and all edged with frost.

….. Another from our first frost of the winter, we’ve another this morning -2°C! - will have to see what I can get today, the sun is forecast to appear too with clear sky!! Yippee!!!. Alan:-)….

I’ve never been convinced that the sun would come up without me barking.

Side angle view. Hand held photo so not the sharpest. The white areas on the surface is our first frost. Just a light one but still cool.

My not-so-straightforward story in four chapters. :-)

The moon lowering to the tops of the autumn trees this AM was so. beautiful I just had to capture it.

Back when the first frost produced this nature unique art, the frost flower. Once again I chose this photo for my best in 2024 because of the uniqueness of it and not being able to get another shot like it. I have many that are better and more colorful but I like to chose the shot that cannot be duplicated 30 minutes later this is gone forever in the wild.
