A firm favourite with many armchair birders, the Robin is always a welcome sight in the garden. Being naturally confiding & curious, they'll often come in close & sit for a photo. I'll admit that this is sometimes a pleasant distraction, when a preferred subject is playing hard to get, as was the case here.

Muddy Trout Creek making it's way towards Okanagan Lake in Trout Creek Canyon. A cloudy, late afternoon hike into the canyon provided some low light, making it quite amenable for shooting long exposures.

Austeros epitafios,
sombras, murmuraciones vagas
que se acogen, como gatos,
a la escueta caricia de la melancolía.
Walking through the woods there seems to be a lot of newly uprooted trees around, some over the footpaths and have been cut up to clear the path.
A firm favourite with florists, prized for their attention-grabbing, larger than average blooms, long flowering time and incredible vase life. A relative of the buttercup, each petal has a thin, waxy layer which prolongs life as a cut flower whilst giving the appearance that they are sparkling. Perfect planted in early spring to provide early summer colour to your borders and containers. Prefer well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Height 30cm (12'). Spread 15cm (6'). Tender bulbous perennials.
To Prologue of the Story "The Doors"
♫♫Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Roll Me Away♫♫
As she clutched onto the firm grip behind her Ronnie, nestled snugly on the sleek motorbike, a wave of tranquility washed over her. The gentle hum of the engine became a soothing symphony, lulling her into a sense of absolute safety. The open road stretched out before them, beckoning them towards a horizon painted with endless possibilities.
The cool breeze weaving through their hair, carried with it the promise of new adventures. It whispered tales of dreams waiting to unfold, of aspirations that was soaring high like the eagles circling overhead. With her heart filled with boundless trust, she leaned into her partner and surrendered to the present moment.
Every mile of their journey they traversed became a testament to their unwavering bond. The rhythm of the bike beneath them echoed the synchronous beating of their loving hearts. The world outside faded away, replaced by a shared sense of purpose and an unbreakable connection. In this intimate embrace, she was enveloped by an unwavering belief that together, they could conquer any challenge that was lying ahead.
As the endless road continued to unravel before them, she was reminded of the enduring power of trust. It was the cornerstone of their partnership, the foundation upon which their dreams were built. With every mile they rode, she was filled with a deep abiding faith in her companion, knowing that she would always have their back, just as her partner had hers. And so, they journeyed on, carried by the wind, propelled by their dreams, and bound together by a love that knew no bounds.

Devoted to my Ronnie, a talented and amazing musician who touched my heart deeply with Love ღ
Lomagnupur mountain reflecting in a roadside pool. It helped that tourism was down during my visit. Otherwise, I may not have been able to pull over to make some of the photographs. There were not many pull-outs on the road, and virtually no shoulder; so no traffic was helpful in seeing ahead to make stops when possible. South Iceland, April 2021

Washington's North Head Lighthouse stands regally against the storms. Judging from other images I've seen, it's been spruced up nicely.
A gorgeous little collection of lichens on a boulder on the beach at Split Rock on Lake Superior. The big foliose formation is a type of rockshield and the orange and blue crustose could be any number of things.
Panning shot of a small tractor. it's very slow moving, I had to shot at 1/10 to get this motion blur

This is a portrait without much information - actually without any information, but where the personality of the sitter shines through very clearly.
I do not know who this woman is, I do not know the name of the photographer nor do I know where this photo was taken. There is absolutely nothing printed or written on it.
But perhaps I lied a bit when I said there is no information. You can deduce some. I bought it on an online auction in Sweden, so it is reasonable to assume this woman to be Swedish (most old portraits I own has been bought in country of origin). The date is likely early to mid 1860s - based on both her fashion, and the simplicity of the card itself which by the end of the decade were getting much more ornate.
The woman herself must have been well off - by the end of the 19th century and in the early 20th going to the photographer were something most people did, perhaps not often and most likely as something quite special, but they did it. And every little town had at least one photo studio (and many more than that), But this is much earlier when it would have been much more expensive and much less common. But all the same, look at her hand. That is the hand of someone who is using them for work - tanned and coarse. No wedding ring though, so probably not married. The dress itself is in tune with the fashion of the time, but strict and with no extra frills. At the same time she is wearing jewelery - both a brooch and a couple of necklaces. If I were to guess, I would say she is the daughter of a well-to-do but still hard-working farmer.
Another image from my recent trip out, although not 100% happy due to the breeze which kept moving the branches at the very top hence a bit more vignette than I'd like. Thanks for your comments.
