This firebug set the winter on fire because spring has finally arrived. Right on time for the official start of spring tomorrow.

This guy looks to be the last instar (5th) of this pyrrhocorid bug (Dindymus versicolor). Photographed in an urban garden, Sandy Bay, Hobart, Tasmania.

These little insects each have a slightly different pattern.. Individuals and yet grouped together. I discovered them on an upturned flower pot. The colours, patterns and textures caught my eye. Looked them up and apparantly they are called Pyrrhocoris apterus.

Interesting and colourful red bugs on a cedar tree in a camp yard at Lakitelek, Hungary.
A családos közösség táborozását látogattuk meg a Lakitelek melletti Tőserdőn, ott fényképeztem a régi ifjúsági táborban lévő cédrusokon ezeket a szép piros bogarakat - valamiért egészen sok volt itt belőlük.
A verőköltő bodobács (Pyrrhocoris apterus) egy közismert és elterjedt európai poloskafaj, amely nevével ellentétben nem a bodobácsok (Lygaeidae) rokona, hanem a verőköltő poloskák (Pyrrhocoridae) családjának tagja.
