The fire engine that arrived to deal with the transformer fire on our street a few evenings ago just after midnight. This image actually gives a very good idea of how the scene looked to the blearly homeowner who stumbles out of his completely dark house — the burning transformer having taken the power out, of course — and into the glare of the emergency lights of the fire engine.
I saw this one by the side of the road in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Not sure of the vintage maybe someone could help out.
This got me thinking I wanna get a picture of a cop car with its lights on.
Without getting caught.
Because I'm not sure that's actually legal.

This, the smallest water tower ever built, served it's entire career with the Pittsburgh, PA Fire Dept, until retired in 1972- after 73 years of service! Originally a horse drawn tower, carried by a type 31 ALF chassis starting in 1923, and placed on a 1948 REO chassis after being involved in a serious crash. PBF stands for Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.

I had not intended to go here today (my walk yesterday was through this area) but spotted the fire from the bus and hopped off at the next stop. Turns out it was a controlled practice fire. This used to be a motorcycle club, their lease must have run out. Lots of smoke and crackle. Lots of fire engines with nice numbers on them. Firemen having a picnic.

cool waters of the Agean sea....
there are others who are risking their
lives to save our precious mountains....
This probably would have been better in color, but alas I was actually using B&W film. Imagine that--film!
