The 'Finish' of a bottle refers to the number and configuration of the threads that accept the bottle cap at the top of a bottle's neck.

In this photo, the top of my water bottle was illuminated between crossed polarizers, and the stresses in the plastic that makes up the bottle reveal themselves in the different colors.

The diameter of the top of this bottle is an inch, and the area shown in the photo is a 2-inch square, including negative space.

The droplet of water between the threads on the right side of the bottle has a diameter of about 2mm. The tiny droplet on top of the bottle at left has a diameter of about 0.5mm.

Landmark S4M 10009 pulls forward to load its last hopper with corn at the Sunrise Co-Op facility in South Charleston, OH. Once done, they'll shove the loaded cut of cars towards their yard, and will repeat the process again with another cut of 8 or so empty hoppers.

An enjoyable afternoon at the races, but no luck with any winners!

The annual Liverpool Santa Dash event marked its 20th festive race in the city, with thousands of people donning their beards, hats and red (and blue) suits to race along the 5k route around the city centre in support of Claire House Children's Hospice. It is predicted that around 8,000 people took part in the charity event.

the course took runners through the Royal Albert Dock and onwards into the heart of the city and then on to the finish line outside Liverpool Town Hall.

After a rainy start to the day, the sun eventually came out for the runners, who made their way around the course dressed in a range of outfits. While most opted for the Santa outfit, others came as elves and there was even a grumpy Grinch in the mix.

The BTR Liverpool Santa Dash welcomes everyone—whether walking, jogging, or running. Wheelchair users and even tiny Santas in prams or pets are encouraged to join.

Lee and I were about ready to end our Sunday morning walk around the Ravines Park when we spotted this Eagle fly from the nest and land in a tree by the river. As soon as we got in position he started inhaling this strand of whatever. It was quite in the harsh sunlight and I didn't have time to check my settings.

Looks like he is eating the remains of some sort of animal. Hope it was good.

Best wishes of Happy New Year, hoping the world will find a way to stop craziness.

Buon Anno a tutti, sperando che il mondo trovi un modo per fermare la pazzia dilagante.

I decided today would be the day I put the finishing touches to the projects I had all but completed but just needed that final bit of work. Loose ends were woven in, buttons sewn on and some items set out for blocking. Here are 4 kitchen hand towels and a couple of kitten blankets that were part of the days work. Now that's all done I can get back to the serious work of knitting. Now let's see, what will be next?

The Longford Cup is a race for thoroughbred horses every New Year's Day. It has run since 1845, making it one of the oldest continuous races in the country. From the old grandstand (which you can see in The Road to Longford slideshow) we get this view of the finishing post. I stitched together a conventional panorama, but felt this approach looked more interesting.
