I donated a raffle prize to a company in exchange for free advertising when I become a "fully fledged" cake designer. The financial director won and requested a thankyou cake for his finance team at the end of the tax year. It is entirely edible, the cash tin is choc cake, the box file is vanilla sponge, the money was printed on edible paper and the calculator crafted from modelling paste.
I gathered inspiration from debbiedoescakes for the broken pencil and calculator cake. Thank you x I loved her large calculator cake which was amazing (aren't her cakes always though). I didn't want to copy her and do a large caculator though as I wanted to come up with my own design. I hope this summed up the finance office. They loved it apparently. Great fun to make as well.

Riverside Finance Company (3855 Market Street) - This Spanish Baroque (Churrigueresque) style building was designed by well-known Los Angeles architect Stiles Oliver Clements, who also designed the Wiltern Theatre, Mayan Theatre, El Capitan Theatre, and remodeled the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Built in 1926, it was purchased by Citrus Belt Savings and Loan Association in 1951. The ornate façade was covered with a mid-century modern false front when renovated in 1961. Saved from demolition, this forgotten gem is under renovation by the Riverside Community College School for the Arts and will feature the Miné Okubo gallery.

Despues de leer este fin de semana las noticias en la prensa, sobre la reunión preparatoria de la cumbre de los G20, me ha parecido oportuno poner esta foto en la que se aprecian claramente los efectos devastadores que la crisis ha tenido en este símbolo fálico del poder, que tan de moda están ahora en nuestras capitales.
Los estados han salido en apoyo de las entidades financieras para que las grandes fortunas sigan siendo grandes fortunas, gracias al endudamiento de los trabajadores, que a su vez, ya las estaban haciendo ricas por los préstamos pedidos.
Es de entender que en tal situación las ayudas a los paises pobres deberan esperar, ya que los dirigentes de estas entidades deben seguir ganando primas anuales que superan el PIB de algunos paises.
Un detalle que me llamó la atención es que el valor de las 10 primeras fortunas (cada una de ellas atribuida a una sola persona) es superior al PIB de los 55 paises más pobres del mundo que suman muchos millones de personas.
