Part of the Hartford Business District
For a while in the late 1990s, I started to think I would see boarded buildings and trash blowing through the intersection of Main and Pearl (one of Hartford's primary intersections – actually the gap between the 'Gold Building' and the 'Radiator Building' just to the right of center). The city has recovered somewhat, however; although the Bank of America left the old Hartford National Bank (the 'Radiator Building') sometime back and the building is vacant, most of the rest are inhabited and working.
Left to right:
The Phoenix Life Insurance Company's signature 'Boat Building';
The Traveler's Life Insurance Tower and two of their other office buildings (I worked in both of them);
the red brick building to the right is 760 Main, with a CVS Drugstore in its base and private offices above;
One Financial Plaza (the 'Gold Building');
the edge of the old Hartford National Bank (vacant);
and One Constitution Plaza.
