Central (also Central District; Chinese: 中環) is the central business district of Hong Kong. It is located in Central and Western District, on the north shore of Hong Kong Island, across Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui, the southernmost point of Kowloon Peninsula. The area was the heart of Victoria City, although that name is rarely used today.
As the central business district of Hong Kong, many multinational financial services corporations have their headquarters in the area. Consulates general and consulates of many countries are also located in this area, as is Government Hill, the site of the government headquarters. The area, with its proximity to Victoria Harbour, has served as the centre of trade and financial activities from the earliest day of British colonial era in 1841, and continues to flourish and serve as the administrative centre after the transfer of sovereignty to China in 1997.

"At dawn, the sun rises above the apartments that line the banks of the River Thames... fingers of coloured light streak across the sky lighting the house boats on the river and the financial district of Canary Wharf..."

From fairies at the bottom of your garden to 'the borrowers' we are obsessed with the fantasy of little people in a full-sized world. My 'downsizing' project, using model railway figures, food and everyday objects, is merely an extension of those thoughts.
As the finacial gloom continues around the globe so the storm clouds gather over Canary Warf's banking district. Taken while on a river cruise on the Thames.

The World Financial Center in Shanghai (492m). The picture was shot from the Jin Mao Tower (on level 54, where the lobby of Grand Hyatt is).
On the lower part f the "Bottle opener" some cranes are reflected. They are already building another taller tower (Shanghai center) with 632m (as far as I know for now). Must be amazing to see all the three tall towers standing close together.

A helipad protrudes from the 68-story Bitexco Financial Tower (2010) in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The design mimicked a lotus, the national flower of Vietnam.
The "lowest" part of Lower Manhattan is home to some of New York's most famous and evocative landmarks: Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island and Ellis Island in the harbor, both accessed by ferry boat from the financial district.
Here's a somewhat wider view of the scene from my prior post. Brookfield Place used to be called World Financial Center.
