Here's another shot of the old Final Exam from a series of photos I took for an article that I never submitted. The Final was at the corner of West Hickory and Avenue C, and the site is now a parking lot for the University of North Texas. The Final was the first private club started specifically for the UNT students. It was primarily a talk bar, and since it was a remodeled old house, you could always find a quiet space. If there was something interesting on the TV, the staff would turn it up, so everyone could enjoy it. One time I was late catching up with a friend of mine, and I got to the Final, only to find him schnockered and lecturing the folks in the back on the greatness of poet and author Rudyard Kipling. I took this shot with an AGFA 120 mm camera on Kodak Tri-X Pan film (400 ASA). This shot appeared on the cover of my magazine, ALEC'S REVIEWS. Oh, the sign is a late addition from the Final's closing days. For most of its career, the Final Exam existed on word of mouth advertising with no sign at all. You can hear my interview with the staff on a CD at the Emily Fowler/Central Public Library in Denton, Texas.
My instructor for the day, I forget his name. I wanna say, Frank. I never had him before, but he was an excellent guy, and really knew the area and what he was doing.
Here's another shot of the front of the Final exam. I shot this with Tri-X Pan from Kodak, with a 120 mm AGFA camera. This was for an article on the end of the Final Exam that was never publishedm, due to a request from one of the original backers. You can find my interview with the staff of the Final Exam at the Emily Fowler/Central Public Library, Denton, Texas. Oh, that's my Schwinn three speed bike parked out front, with my back pack on the ground. I named the bike Silver (as in "Hi-Yo Silver! Away!"). This area is now a parking lot on the University of North Texas campus at Avenue C and West Hickory. By the way, the sign is a later addition. The Final Exam got by on word-of-mouth advertising for most of its existence, without a sign of any kind. UPDATE: Silver, the magical Schwinn three-speed bicycle has sat for too long in the garden shed in my back yard. Now my Hokamp kin folk have taken him to their workshop, and are ready to bring him back to life.

This was an indroductory music theory class that covered counterpoint basics. The tests were cake but judging from this photo, I guess I had to do all the homework to pass the class. This is what my desk looked like while doing a semester's worth of counterpoint homework in one night. Back at Rutgers University in '03. New Brunswick, NJ.
