Filament between two wires in a 60W lightbulb.

Not sure I ever shared this one, but a nice bolt of lightning from a dying supercell south of Lamar, Colorado back on June 6th, 2017 with some tour guests!

Up close with the filaments of a cool bulb

These are modern bulbs with an old filament style.

Thanks for the comments and faves and thanks Explore.

I had to fix my microscope lamp.

I took a macro of the lamp filament for this week's submission.

I used my Nikon, F mount with a T mount adapter, T mount adapter to Microscope eyepiece adapter, and slipped it into the eyepiece of my B&L Stereo Scope. No "camera" lens used.

I then used low voltage to heat the filament to produce the "radiant" glow. The two electrodes (white solder connections) are about 1/4" apart.

Sometimes the photo finds YOU!!

Something I have wanted to do for ages. But I can pick umpteen holes in this. Trying to even get the right sort of bulb was not the easiest - most are LED or not dimmable. Then the bulb would have worked better rotated 180 degrees. Getting rid of dust was another nightmare. So don't look closely ..Lol! So I think I will have another try at this sometime in future.

I have always felt that clouds would represent softness. This montage includes this mornings sunrise (2 photos) plus the spun filiament arrangement of a flower I found recently.

“Do not be hardened by the pain

and cruelty of this world.

Be strong enough to be gentle,

to be soft and supple like running water,

gracefully bending around sudden turns,

lithely waving in strong winds,

freely flowing over sharp rocks,

all the while quietly sculpting

this hard world into ever deeper beauty," L.R. Knost

An antique style light bulb with spiral filament as seen at King’s Road Brewery in Medford, NJ. Highly recommend this brewery for craft beer and next door is a great BBQ joint. Cheers!

Thanx for Viewin, Favin, and Commentin on my Stream!

These Milkweed seeds, attached to white, filament-like hairs called coma, are all set to be transported....carried away by the wind to find new locations in a nearby field. The seeds will work their way to the surface of the soil during the rainy days and nights of autumn hoping to germinate the following spring.

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) are evergreen herbaceous perennial plants with large leaves 12–65 cm long and 3–25 cm broad. Although it is called a "lily", the peace lily is not a true lily from the family Liliaceae. True lilies are highly toxic (poisonous) to cats and dogs, but the peace lily, spathiphyllum is only mildly toxic to humans and other animals when ingested. Deux appareils, deux objectifs, et toujours le même attrait pour ces appliques :-)

A theme of "Bulb" and I decided to photograph the filament of a light bulb going up in flames after the glass had been broken and the switch was turned on.

This would cause the filament to burn out when exposed to oxygen and would briefly burst into flames and emit a bit of smoke.

This was captured with the camera set to continuous shooting mode and is a frame towards the end of the sequence. i liked this one as the filament was visible and still glowing.

I also used a flashgun to help illuminate the glass and smoke and was impressed it kept up with the camera at 1/32 of it's power.
