F/A-18F Super Hornets from the Gladiators of VFA-106 arriving #UnderTheLights

T-38C Talon s/n #68-08121 of the 87thFTS, photographed while it sported a fantastic looking retro-theme livery, skillfully applied to appear as a F-106 Delta Dart. This unique paint scheme is one of several in the USAF, that was applied to commemorate the squadrons history, as the 87th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, flying the F-106 Delta Dart from KI Sawyer AFB, Michigan, from 1968 to 1985. The squadron was a frontline unit of the Air Defense Command of the USAF. The squadron was tasked to be ready 'at a moments notice', to intercept attacking Soviet TU-95 Bear bombers, capable of deploying nuclear weapons, targeting American cities in close proximity to the Canadian border.

This unique livery was conceived and graphically designed by Ms. Melaine Valentin, whom at the time of this photo, was assigned to the 'Red Bulls' of the 87thFTS as an instructor pilot. You can see more of her work on Instagram: @PlaneOldArt
