Catching a classic Cold War jet with its afterburner lit is always a treat, but seeing this Polish-built Lim-5 (a licence-built MiG-17F) fly is truly special. This exact airframe, tactical number 1211, is one of the very few surviving MiG-17s still airworthy and flying at airshows.
Looking remarkably similar to the famous MiG-15 the MiG-17 featured a more steeply swept wing and, in the F version, an afterburning engine. In this close-up, you can see the pilot in the cockpit as the vintage Lis-5 engine kicks out a bright orange flame against the overcast sky.
A loud, fast and beautiful piece of Cold War aviation history!

I was so hyped that Top Gun: Maverick is finally coming to theaters that I just had to build the iconic F-14 Tomcat, the fighter jet from the original movie, complete with it´s signature folding wings. The long awaited sequel has it´s Swedish premiere tomorrow and I´ll be there, ´cause I feel the need, the need for speed!

The F-290 Pitviper is a near future upgrade of the Grumman X-29 forward swept wing concept. The DSN felt that not only should we have excellent high performance fighter aircraft... but they should look cool too.
The aircraft features two seats for a pilot and RIO, working landing gear and gear doors, underwing fuel tanks, and four movable control surfaces: canards, and aft deck up/down flap/spoilers.
The front few studs of the nose shape was copied pretty closely from a beautiful build by Ralph Savelsberg.

This build and perhaps more to come on this account are for the game Decisive Action 4 on Flickr. Come on over and check it out!
A US Navy E/A18G Growler flying during the Growler demo at the 2025 Abbotsford Airshow. It was loud and the pilots didn't hold back. I can still hear the afterburners when I look at these shots.
A Royal Air Force Tornado Gr4 (ZG779 136) going about its business in the Lake District on a typically overcast and grey day.
I normally gravitate towards sunny weather but sometimes I just love the mood in shots like these, capturing the moody, glum atmosphere of the weather. I can almost taste the air.
