Growing wild in the ruins

The talented Mrs. Beavan that's what my kids called her.

We finally got our lawnmower fixed, it was broken for nearly a month. Our backyard was like Jurassic Park. We're also letting grass grow into the flower bed along the back fence, we weren't doing anything with it anyway.

Fig tree's leaves erupting in spring.

This Kirkland garden was just full and magnificently planted, and above it all was a very large fig tree. What you see here at the back, is just the lower-most branches of the fig. Gardening in the Pacific NW is incredibly rewarding, since the choices of thriving plants are practically infinite.

You cannot tell from this picture, but the these fig tree roots stood almost 2 meters high near the trunk and spread out 6 to 7 meters in all directions.

Two days ago the temperature dropped below freezing. The leaves show the result. The little figs seem to be okay.

My neighbor's fig tree. I think he planted it for religious reasons. He should water it more...
