Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach in the resort of Protaras, Cyprus. The sandy beach stretches for 500m and the waters are clean enough for the beach to have been awarded blue flag designation. Fifty days after Easter comes "Kataklysmos" - the Day of the Holy Ghost. In Cyprus it is celebrated by fairs held on the water fronts.
Kataklysmos is a water-based festival that takes place along the beachfront, on Saturday of the Pentecost and Whit Monday.
The date for Kataklysmos follows the Orthodox Calendar, falling each year on Sunday of the Pentecost and Monday of the Holy Spirit.
