Al contrari que tots els rapinyaires de les fotos del Cim d'Aligues, aquest xot (otus scops) va per lliure. Això és el maxim que m'hi vaig poder acostar. Poc despres va marxar, cansat de que no el deixes dormir, el pobre.

I spoted this scops owl (otus scops) from a window. It was sleeping in a fig tree! You can see that he has elevated his "feather ears" to break his silhouette and resemble a piece of wood.

For Sydney people and other film shooters in Australia who may need to mail film to labs, I can highly recommend Rewind Photo Lab.

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov is one of the most famous Russian playwrights and one of the most screened prose writers because in his works more than 100 films have been shot.
Chekhov has purchased this property in January of 1900, as a place where he could escape from numerous visitors and guests of his Yalta house. Here he wrote the first act of the play Три сестры. While Anton Chekhov himself did not live in this house for extended periods of time, several members of his family did.Three rooms of the house are restored with contemporary furnishings. The exhibits are dedicated to Chekhov’s relationship with his wife, Olga Knipper, the play Three sisters, and the people that have surrounded him, his family and friends.
В 1898 году Чеховым А.П.

About the Moreton Bay Fig
Ficus macrophylla, commonly known as the Moreton Bay Fig, is a large evergreen banyan tree of the Moraceae family that is a native of most of the eastern coast of Australia, from the Atherton Tableland (17° S) in the north to the Illawarra (34° S) in New South Wales, and Lord Howe Island. Its common name is derived from Moreton Bay in Queensland, Australia. It is best known for its beautiful buttress roots, which are also known for damaging municipal footpaths.
As Ficus macrophylla is a strangler fig; seed germination usually takes place in the canopy of a host tree and the seedling lives as an epiphyte until its roots establish contact with the ground. It then enlarges and strangles its host, eventually becoming a freestanding tree by itself. Individuals may reach 60 m (200 ft) in height. Like all figs, it has an obligate mutualism with fig wasps; figs are only pollinated by fig wasps, and fig wasps can only reproduce in fig flowers.
Ficus macrophylla is widely used as a feature tree in public parks and gardens in warmer climates such as California, Portugal, Sicily and Australia. Old specimens can reach tremendous size. Its aggressive root system allows its use in only the largest private gardens.
The Moreton Bay fig was described by French botanist René Louiche Desfontaines. Its specific epithet macrophylla is derived from the Ancient Greek makro "large" and phyllon "leaf", and refers to the size of the leaves. Australian botanist Dale J. Dixon recognised two forms: Ficus macrophylla f. macrophylla, a free-standing tree which is endemic to mainland Australia and Ficus macrophylla f. columnaris, a hemiepiphyte without a distinct main trunk, which is endemic to Lord Howe Island.
The generally used common name is Moreton Bay Fig, after Moreton Bay in southern Queensland, although it is found elsewhere. The term has also been mistakenly generalised to other fig species in Australia. An alternate name, Black Fig, is derived from the dark colour of the ageing bark.
The Strand, Townsville. QLD. Its nice to get a good look at a RTBC as they don't often occur in the Brisbane area despite Morcombes map saying so. They even rarer to the south, though still a few exist around the Armidale area. Even the Yellow tails are scarce in Brisbane now due to land clearing. Fortunately up north there appears to be plenty of RTBC's. This one and others were feeding on unripe figs by the foreshore next to the pool. They were eagerly followed by Blue-eyed honeyeaters cleaned up anything missed.

On October 26th 2022 I discovered that a new galvanised walking track bridge had been built at the mouth of Browns Creek, where it enters the Manning River.
A wide concrete path leads to the bridge from the western end of Pitt and Nelson Streets near the old Peters Milk Factory Wharf.
The pathway and bridge allow new access in 2022 from the east across Browns Creek to the Taree Bicentennial Gardens, which up till now have been tucked away and underutilised on a peninsula between Browns Creek and the Manning River.
Presumably the path will eventually be continued east to the proposed future redevelopment of the old Peeress Butter Factory site fronting the Manning River. That project, which has been in the planning phase for many years, will potentially revitalise the historic Chatham Manning River front and will be known as 'Figtrees on the Manning'.
In the longer term it will also extend to Taree Recreation Centre at Chatham.
For now, the bridge gives access from Pitt and Nelson Streets west through the Taree Bicentennial Gardens.
Those who might explore a little further will find that the path through the gardens extends to a new walking cycling trail completed in December 2021 which links from under Browns Creek Bridge along the western side of Browns Creek through mangrove swamp forest and rainforest all the way to Muscio Park.
Protaras, the tourist area, extends along the eastern coast of Paralimni and stretches for 10km from the district of 'Kapparis' to the location of 'Konnos'.
Protaras is Ayia Napa's laid-back neighbor.

This silk slip is over 100 years old. It was made in the 1920's for a great aunt who gave it to me.
I used it loads back in 2009's selfportraits. Im amazed I can still get in it. It's hand sewn and quite beautiful.

I have to apologize for the blatant homemade look! I'm a newbie at pinnies. I wanted to find a way to make him stand up but I couldn't. I used actual scraps from a quilt I made last summer. This fabric is Whimsy by Fig Tree. I made an inner muslin pouch filled with clean aquarium/bird sand and then stuffed around it with poly-fil.
Overall I'm happy with the little guy. I hope my partner thinks he's ok to keep around ;-)
The largest Moreton Bay fig tree, ficus macrophylla, in the United States. Imported from Australia and originally planted in 1875, then transplanted in 1877 to where it is today. Another view.
This juvenile Blackbird is an introduced long-tailed black thrush, now a common resident in Australia's south-east and Tasmania.
Yesterday's posting is a Coffee Tree! Looking forward to working with it.
This fig tree is about 20ft tall and has hundreds of figs.
