The Milan Furniture Fair (Italian: Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano) is a furniture fair held annually in Milan. It is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world. The exhibition showcases the latest in furniture and design from countries around the world. It is considered a leading venue for the display of new products by designers of furniture, lighting and other home furnishings. The show, also known as "Salone", "Milano Salone" and "Milan Design Week," is held every year, usually in April, in the FieraMilano complex in the Milan metropolitan area town of Rho.[2] Besides the Salone, in April every odd year Euroluce exhibition takes place and every even year EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition are held along the Milan Furniture Fair.

** 3th. Place Winner in the Chariots of Artists - Invite Group Contest Special# 12 "BEST of Juni 2015 - august 2015
From my new album "Anteprima Design Week" (in progress with new adds-on for the whole month of May).
One of the colored installations at the new headquarters of the Fieramilano-Rho, during the Salone del Mobile / Euroluce with the new headline conceived for the Design Week "Do you speak Design?". Every colored capital letter is the initial of the name of an object of interior design.
This is a view from the inside of the fair which I very much like as it connects outdoor with indoor, allowing to continuously breath fresh air while exiting a pavillion to enter another one.
Concrete, crystal glass, plexiglass, iron and a wide pool lining the whole pedestrian track contribute to give a very harmonious modern ambiance.

From my new album "Anteprima Design Week" (in progress with new adds-on for the whole month of May).
A diptych showing the two sort of spider structures, called
"Il Ragno", completely covered by a steel roofing, at the Trade Fair Fieramilano-Rho, used as convention and conference halls.
The headquarters recently hosted the new edition of
Salone del Mobile / Euroluce while the "Fuorisalone" is everywhere downtown and animates especially in the evening.
The entire architecture is made with a modular structure, integrating glass, iron, steel, cement, but also lighter materials like aluminium, plexiglass.
The glass and iron walls of the entire complex, looking like boat sails, have been projected by the architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
One spider is positioned at the beginning of the visiting track and the second at the far end of the track, close to the last pavillions. The pedestrian floor (much larger than just a corridor) is lined by a long and wide pool.
Inside the fair arrive both the underground and the fast long-distance trains.
The whole perimeter of the fair is pedestrian area, so it is possible to stay outside and walk either outside or inside to reach each pavillion.
I've been lucky to arrive quite early, before the opening of the gates but was standing in a long line. At a certain point, I flashed a question and approached some security men and, while I was asking them for an indication, the gates opened and I found myself among the first visitors to enter !
This fact allowed me few minutes and many meters of empty spaces to photograph some views at the architectures without almost anybody in front of me (and my camera ;-)
To stay "free hands", I didn't take with me a tripod...Oh, and I wished to have had a wide angle lens...

The first fair ground in Milan was opened in 1906, as the area of a World's fair, and in time for the opening of the Simplon Tunnel. The fairground at that time extended over the current area and the nearby Sempione Park.
In 1923 the fairground, at that time Fiera Campionaria, was moved permanently in the historical zone, of which Fieramilanocity now occupies a part. Western wing opened in 1997, in place of the old Alfa Romeo factory at Portello.
Since 2000, the infrastructure is managed by the new company Fiera Milano Spa and in 2005 the new Fieramilano opened in Rho. The old fairground in Milan was partially dismantled between 2007 and 2008.
1920: Fiera Milano was borne
April 1920: the first Fiera Campionaria, 1200 exhibitors including 256 from abroad. Eight entrepreneurs organised the initiative in Milan on the Bastioni di Porta Venezia. Just two years later, with Royal Decree of Victor Emmanuel III of 1 July 1922, the Ente Autonomo Fiera Internazionale di Milano (Milan International Fair Independent Body) was established. In 1923, Fiera Milano was moved to the ancient Piazza delle Armi. The area, then on the outskirts of Milan, was bought by the Ente Autonomo Fiera Internazionale di Milano and was to host the Fair until the transfer of the offices and most of the exhibition spaces to the new area of Milano-Rho in 2006.
