Most people struggle to find what they want to do in life. I was no different. It wasn’t until last year that I had decided that I wanted to be an early childhood educator. I always believed this to be true, but I did not always want to believe that this is what I wanted to do. I have had the desire to teach children since I was a young girl. My sisters and friends almost never got to role play as the teacher because I always wanted to be it. Growing up this idea was reinforced when I was the only one able to help my nieces and nephews with their homework. I never complained and always enjoyed helping them. Recently I went on a school trip with my youngest niece and her class. We went to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. During this time I would often think about my desire to become a school teacher. This field trip only helped to reassure me this is what I wanted to do. Seeing and hearing how excited the children were gave me a sense of joy.
